Pleasantly surprised!
We used a different brand for past 5 years. That was the 2nd one of that brand. I saw this & thought maybe a vac from a company that specializes in vacuums would be a better choice. I almost returned it because it had obviously been purchased & returned by someone else – but we really needed to clean our pellet stove. SO GLAD we kept it! Suction is much better than what we had. The hose looked shorter than what we had and it worked out fine. The filter was also better than the old. I ordered the paper filter for a 2nd layer of dust protection but they are back ordered. They don’t come with it, I ordered the attachments for cleaning behind the baffles and am very satisfied with this one. Really good deal for the price too. For us, it works great for our pellet stove.

Perfect for getting the ash out of your fireplace, etc.
Once I figured out which outlet to use, it sucked up the ash quickly. Just go slower to avoid a clog. Easy cleanout into my compost pile for the garden. Small and easily stored.

Does a good job but price goes up and down a lot….
Had one of these and the motor burned out in about 5 years. This one I got “used good condition” and it didn’t have a single scratch or flaw on it. 42 bucks. The only issue for me is a short hose, but it’s better to use one of these than burn out your shop vac.

Great Shopvac!
Great suction. Quality construction. Reasonably priced.

Works ok but overheats
This vacuum is built solidly and is easy to assemble and move. However there are a couple glaring issues. First and foremost is the fact that the motor on this unit gets very hot pretty quick. We have to use it in short spurts and never more than a couple minutes at a time. Others have stated this at well so I feel it’s a product wide issue. The other problem is the filter gets covered with ash quickly which causes a severe drop in performance. We had to take it apart a couple times every time we cleaned our pellet stove.

Barely fits the bill
Wood ash will quickly ruin a typical vacuum, thus a dedicated unit designed specifically for this purpose is required. I have used this vacuum once prior to each heating season for the last three years to clean out the flue channels in our wood burning masonry heater. Normal ash is removed every few days as it drops into a ash pan so the vacuum is only used to remove residual ash from the convoluted flue which runs through heat benches before exiting up the stack. Very little ash accumulates in these passages, less than 2 gallons is vacuumed each year, so I was expecting this vacuum to be up to the task. First, do not use this vacuum inside more than 5 minutes as the exhaust will fill your home with fine ash dust. It uses a filter panel that does not retain the smaller particles. It takes me about 30-40 minutes of vacuum time to reach all the recesses and I was horrified the first year after I finished to find every horizontal surface up to the ceiling in our home on our first floor covered with a thin layer of fine gray black dust. It took many hours to clean this mess and looking back I should have filed an insurance claim to clean up the colossal mess. I purchased a very long hose extension the second year so I could place the the vacuum outside and this solved that issue. Second, although it only takes about half an hour of vacuum time, the unit will only run about 10 minutes before it overheats and shuts down so I have to wait about another 30 minutes to start up again extending the time dedicated to this awful task by a couple of hours. Third, the suction starts out ok, but after only a couple of minutes is so poor it will not even completely clear the vacuum hose. I have found that if the tank is emptied and the filter shook out about after every quart or so of ash it will work but again extending this awful job. Because this is only a once a year chore I will persevere, but fine fireplace ash is just beyond the capability of this vacuum.

Para mi gusto es que es muy grande para las cenizas y siento que le falta potencia para atraer las cenizas. No me gustó que las boquillas sean de metal.
