Thermwell Air Conditioner Side Insulating Panels
This is a great product if you want the extra to keep out the hot air when your air conditioner is running and lowering your electric bill. I put this in front of my regular side panels because there were some gap on the sides allowing hot air to get in and this took care of the problem. The panels are nice and thick as to now tear easily. I just cut the excess off and the fit was perfect. I would definitely buy again. Thanks Amazon

    Good product, works as expected!
Great for the purpose of blocking out cold air, noise, dust from coming in through AC side panels.Fits nicely and we had quite a bit left over. Will definitely utilize it next year or whenever replacement is needed.

    Works fine
Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. This is really nothing more than good-quality foam, and is something I probably could have purchased for cheaper at the local hardware store, but alas. The side panel is supposed to stick to your unit, but it came off after only a few days for me. I used duct tape to seal all four edges, and it holds up just fine. I can definitely notice a difference in the amount of heat/air it blocks. Worth the purchase if you don’t want to waste time finding foam of a similar quality.

Using it on the side panels of my unit.
I adapted it to fit into the side panels of my Frigidaire 10,000 BTU. Of course, had to do some trimming. Helps keep the cold air in during the summer, and cold air cannot come through the side panels in the winter. Although I wish the material was a little thinner for a better fit, it still works very well.

Not as Good as They Used to Be
I have been using this product for several years now.Last fall, I had to remove the guides that hold the foam panels in place so I could install plastic over the windows for the winter. Because of this, I had to order this again for my living room Air Conditioner. But I found a big problem with the product. In the past, you would clean the window frame and attach the guides in place. Then position the Air Conditioner where you want it in the window. I position mine more to the right because of an entertainment center. Then the first year you use this, you would measure and cut the panels to fit between the window frame and the Air Conditioner, leaving no gaps with the panels sitting flat, not bowed. To attach the panels, you would need to slide them down the guides/ You would have to pinch the edge of the panel to insert it and slide it down while carefully pinching the edge as you insert it. To take it out at the end of the season, you would slide it back out. The panels would sit flat as they should. Now with the new panels, instead of the ridges going sideways as it used to, the panels included in the package have been cut so the ridges go top to bottom. Plus the guides are made of plastic with the open edge pinched closer together than they used to be. The old guides were metal with the open edge not pinched as much.So with the panel ridges going top to bottom, the panel does not sit flat any more. You want the flat side of the panel towards the window with the ridges facing outward. When you insert the new panels in the guide, the ridges cause it to angle outward instead of sitting flat. This presents a problem. So because of this, I only used the guides and I used my old panels which I still have.NOW, I can see the reasoning behind the ridges going top to bottom. The reasoning behind this is the ridges should fit in the ridges for the Air Conditioner side panels.Bu the problem with this is the fit for the ridges depends on how wide your window is and how you have your air Conditioner centered in the window. This can cause the width of the ridges on your Air Conditioner side panels to vary from narrow to really wide. On my Air Conditioner, the ridges would probably match the side panel on the left side. But on the right side the ridges would not fit as the side panel ridges would be too close together. Also, this assumes you cut the panels to the same height as the side panels on your Air Conditiner. On my air conditioner, the panels fit from the edge of the window where you grab the window to open it, all the way down to the window sill which is longer then the side panel on the Air Conditioner. Then I install a 2 inch thick piece of foam strip under the Air Conditioner going the width of the window frame. And I use a 1 inch strip I push in the top of the lower window between the windows to prevent outside air and insects from coming in.One last thing is our windows are Vinyl windows and I insert a metal piece (cut to length) above the window on both sides in the slot of the Vinyl frame to act as window locks to prevent thieves from raising the window and dropping the Air Conditioner to break into your home.

    These really work!
Wow, these really work. I wasn’t holding out much hope, but by putting them overtop of the plastic side panels, they cut out noise and cool air. I noticed the difference in the sound coming from outside. You must cut them to fit, but a scissors will do.

    Only ok
These are piecces of foam, plain and simple. There is no “insulation.” They work best if you put them over existing panel for extra protection.
