Combining a dictionary and a thesaurus in a single volume, this book offers readers a convenient way to examine dictionary entries and research corresponding synonyms at the same time. The split-page design displays full dictionary entries on the upper portion of each page and full thesaurus entries on the bottom portion, which makes finding and understanding the right word easier than ever. The thesaurus section of the page is screened to highlight the dual nature of the book, providing quick access to the synonyms that relate to the dictionary entries above. The dictionary contains 70,000 entries, and the thesaurus contains 150,000 synonyms that are alphabetically arranged on each page to correlate with the dictionary entries on the same page. With its unique format and user-friendly features, The American Heritage® Desk Dictionary and Thesaurus is a convenient and invaluable resource on words.

Handy
Handy dictionary/thesaurus to have around. Kids have been using it quite a bit.

I love this as well as AH app.
American Heritage is hands down the clearest, most accurate, and overall best dictionary available in the stores. Webster’s, in comparison, is garbage as definitions there are often emotionally derived as opposed to factually.

perfect!
Someone gave a review suggesting the pages were thin. If you have half a brain they are not to thin, otherwise you may find them easy to tear. It is a good size not to massive and not so small. It has a good selection of words as far as I can tell and the setup is user friendly. Perfect, portable. I expect to have this thing until I am a grandpa!

DOES THE JOB
My old 1971 Funk & Wagnalls practically required a fork lift to get off the shelf. Do I need to know that many words? This one has not been tried out but it can be lifted easily. I do need to drag out a magnifying glass or reading glasses to see the small print or it would probably get that coveted 5th star!. I am 74 so the print may not seem that small to everyone. Not fond of the dictionary apps on the Kindle – a book is much easier to search through.

Good book to have on hand.
Excellent book that shows both dictionary definitions and thesaurus words below in each page.

AH Desk Dictionary and Thesaurus
Bought this for my son as it was required for school. I didn’t want to pay the prices they would charge at the bookstore and was able to get this much cheaper on Amazon. So pleased with the fact that I saved some money on this one. It is a good resource for my son’s homework. I have seen him use it quite often. Thanks

Better than a thesaurus
I have been searching for a book of “feelings” for so long. Something more than a Thesaurus. Thank you so much.

Pretty good for Word Lovers
I got this as a gift for my wife, she’s a word lover. Plays Scrabble so well that I hardly bother trying to compete. So every 5-10 years she needs a new dictionary, this combo was a great gift! Or so I thought. This dictionary omits a growing list of words that she uses. So now I’m on the hunt for a bigger and better dictionary.
