GREAT PERFORMANCE & VALUE
Replaced an 18-year-old Panasonic DVD player that had expired with the Sony. Very straight forward set-up and operation, lots of features. We use it primarily for watching movies, one feature we like is if you stop the playback, eject the disk and turn off the unit, the next time you start to play the disk it goes right to where you previously stopped and resumes playing. Remote control is very intuitive, the Sony player performs very well would highly recommend it, great price as well.

Brand new. Traveled well. Easy to hook up. Easy to set up. DVD’s played well and looked sharp. Music CD’s sound great. Played homemade DVD’s without a hitch. Remote is fully functional, with more options than seems usual for a value priced player. The only odd thing I’ve noticed is that the player goes to sleep very quickly when paused or stopped, so you have to hit a command button twice – once to wake it up and again to give the command. This is not a serious problem. Power cord and component cable both conveniently long. Very small footprint and feather light. Seems like a top low cost choice.

Cheap yet durable DVD player, feature heavy and responsive remote
I ordered this SONY DVD player from Amazon and the unit arrived at my house in just four days. I wanted to get a cheap DVD player with a trusted name, and at $30–and based on the reviews–I felt my search was over.The box includes a lightweight yet durable DVD player with an attached AC cord (you’d need an extension cord if, for whatever reason, you might want to set the DVD player up far from an outlet), a separate A/V cord, a remote control, and two Desay brand AA batteries (for the remote). The box also includes a manual and warranty information, but most appliances conform to the White-Red-Yellow color scheme of the A/V cords, and you really shouldn’t need any directions unless you’re new to TVs in general.The remote is great. Mind you I tested the DVD player on a front A/V of a SONY brand TV, but the remote operates both the TV and the DVD player (UPDATE: DVD remote only controls SONY brand TVs, and according to website, no guarantee to control all of them; in other words, it can’t be programmed like a universal remote). The remote has an eject button, which is a real luxury if you’ve ever bought a no-name or cheapo DVD player that didn’t have one! Volume control, closed captioning, everything you might want in a small remote design. The remote has pretty good range, too.I can’t speak on longevity, as I just received the unit and only tested one DVD so far, but I am very happy with the purchase, the features of the remote, the dim green ON light indicator of the player, and the lack of vibration/gadget noise from the player.UPDATE 12/2013:Have this DVD player hooked up to a VIZIO E-Series E241i-A1 24-Inch 1080p 60Hz LED Smart HDTV (tilted base). I have it hooked up via A/V cords, so the quality is only 480i. Still decent for a small bedroom. Good little player. Best paired with a SONY TV to make use of TV controls (remote is not programmable).

I am rewriting my review of this player to simplify my last review , this player is good for the price , it will play dvd , dvd+r , -r , dual layer , just about any standard dvd , and does a good job , not multi region , composite and component outs , no hdmi out , if you want to play things such as dvd rom discs , etc , you will have to look for a good multi format player , also if you looking for a player with hdmi out , this one doesn’t have it , also if you want a multi region player , look for one , also this player only scales to 720p , so if your tv is a 1080 , look for that elsewhere , I use this player on a specific tv that matches up as far as resolution and input capability , so it works for me , but it is not my main tv , my main tv is 1080 , and the player I use for that has all current outputs , is all region , and is multi format , so I can play anything on that , I won’t say what model it is , but I will say that it’s very expensive , so my advice is to make a list of every feature and capability you need or want in a DVD player and try to find one that does everything you need

Great little machine for the price point.
I paid $35 for this DVD player back in June, 2012 which I thought was a pretty good deal. Now I see it is under $30 so my advice is to buy it while it is hot! My old Sony player was about ten years old and every other rental DVD I received skipped around so badly I couldn’t enjoy a movie. As I wasn’t sure if I wanted all the bells and whistles right now (Blu Ray or wireless to stream movies, etc) I went for cheap. So I was expecting a basic machine and that is what I got. So my five star rating is based on the price and that it plays DVDs, which is all I need. If you are looking for a player that walks the dogs and does the dishes, or to impress your techie friends, this item is not for you! My main complaint (at first) was there is no digital time display. I was used to seeing how far along the movie was by looking at the face of the player. But now I just press the “Display” button on the remote and it tells me how many minutes I am in to the DVD. This is important when I am playing my aerobics DVDs. So I am used to it. The nicest feature is that I can take a DVD out of the machine before it has ended, put in another DVD and play it, then when I want to finish watching the previous one it starts out at that same point. If you don’t want it to do that all you have to do is go to the menu and start over again. Maybe all players do that now but my old one didn’t. This unit is half the size of my previous one and space is always a consideration for me. So all in all I am very happy with the purchase.

I have one at my camp, and one in the living room. Both are at least 3-4 years old. Just bought a 3rd one for my room. Never had an issue and the one in my living room is used everyday!!!! The one at my camp is in extreme cold during winter and once the fire heats up the camp, i open my tv and watch movies on DVD. Got nothing but good things to say so far.Great buy, great price.

O DVD player da Sony funciona bem e provavelmente vai durar muito. Entretanto a imagem processada e transmitida pelo equipamento para a TV não é de boa qualidade – fica longe do padrão atual que é HDMI. Existem aparelhos tipo Sony Blue Ray que tem padrão de imagem infinitamente superior com preço evidentemente superior.

Perfect for my older TV. Truly simple to set-up. Only had to change one setting on the easy to use set-up menu. Love that the terminology is straight forward. Actual users guide included instead of going on-line.Remote includes several features. Great picture. Perfect DVD player for keeping my life simple.
