If you have an Apple product this is the best way to drive PowerPoint or Keynote
I got tired of having to plug in a USB dongle to use a clicker – this works great, no delay no problems. BTW if you use a USB A port that is part of a multi port to connect to your USB C on your MACBook or iPad, it does not always work, this is why I tried this and it works all the time. Plus it has a great feel in your hand while you are presenting.

Excellent Quality and works well
This is an excellent presentation remote. The body has some weight to it and doesn’t feel like cheap plastic. The buttons are the right size and intuitively placed. It pairs hassle free with Bluetooth. It’s excellent if you want use PowerPoint on an iPad Pro as I do. The USB remotes won’t work with an iPad without an adapter because there’s no port. This was a bit pricey but I’ve used it now in several presentations and it was well worth the money.

WARNING — DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS PRODUCTS
This product is touted as a bluetooth remote control for PowerPoint (and others) presentations. Powerpoint is a Microsoft product. I attempted to use this pointer with a Microsoft Surface laptop running Windows. It has Bluetooth and I was using PowerPoint. The pointer would not connect, telling me “driver error.” A message to the company (Satechi) curtly said “Product does not work on Microsoft or Windows hosts.” Well crap. Sure enough, the long list of compatible machines in the product description does not say “Windows.” It’s a long line of Apple products. But PowerPoint is mentioned time and again. And Bluetooth. Yes, I should have read the list of compatible machines closer in the product description title. But I think the description is misleading when it pushes its PowerPoint capabilities. I think I just got bamboozled out of $50.

Works OOTB with iPad air
So this actually worked out of the box with my GFs iPad Air, specifically in the books app. She wanted a remote page turner, and this has turned out to be a perfect solution for that. Sure it’s intended for presentation use, but it’s high quality and the big buttons to turn the page are fantastic.

Works great for iPad photos—could be better
I’m keeping this Satechi R1–works great on my iPad Air 13” for viewing photos in the camera roll and it has a red laser pointer. It is Bluetooth only and pairing was easy following the supplied directions. Pressing the large RIGHT arrow button advances the photo; the smaller LEFT arrow button goes back to the previous photo. The size is good but the housing is slick—a textured finish would be nice. It comes with a USB C-to-USB C charging cable.Note that it does NOT move pages up or down as with lists, email or documents. I have another BT device that moves pages up/down but doesn’t advance/reverse photos—it would be nice to have a BT device that does both. Satechi offers a R2 for multimedia but the Up/Down buttons are for volume and does not appear to have a laser pointer. The Virtual Keyboard button brings up the keyboard for writing text messages, emails and notes, but not for adding text to photos. The Black Screen button does not appear to work on my iPad but it does add the letter “B” to text messages, emails and notes—this may be due to the iPad’s iOS. The instruction sheet says it will not work with Windows devices. These are not a problem for me.It has a small ON/OFF switch on the bottom. This may be good to save the battery but could be a problem if you leave it ON after use and it drains the battery. The instruction sheet does not say if it has a AUTO-OFF feature but does say it has up to a 6-month battery life heavily based on laser usage.IMO, the price is a little high but would be fair if it had Page Up/Down buttons and an Auto-OFF feature.

Works with iPad Pro for google slides!
Feels like Apple TV remote. Elegant design. Works well. Best remote I’ve used.

Defective product with poor customer support
Defective product, poor support. R1 Remote has intermittent malfunction where it behaves as thought the button is stuck. Problem occurs when paired with different Apple devices ad used with different apps. Company support was useless, so I ordered another one from Amazon hoping I’d just gotten a single defective unit. Nope. Second remote has the same problem.

Key gets stuck, Bluetooth connectivity weekens just after starting presentation. Unfortunately all this is happening just after return window time expired. I wish Amazon intervenes and allow me to return or address this problem.
