A Fast and Easy way to Transform Your Photo Albums
My wife is a serial photographer, snapping off hundreds of photos at any gathering or on any trip. We have a large storage area in our basement that is (was!) PACKED with totes of unused, forgotten, “stuff”. I know, this is not unusual, however, I had the 6 totes of photo albums clearly in my sights when I thought about wasted space. Not only do these large albums take up a lot of space, but they are also heavy, and nobody ever looks at them. In our busy lives, who is going to trudge down to the basement, lug a 60 lb tote off of a shelf, and start looking at pictures of a Panama City Beach vacation from 1987? Not us.The challenge of converting them to digital is that it’s either time-consuming or expensive. We had about 3000 paper photos, which would have cost a couple thousand dollars to convert via one of the online companies who specializes in digital conversions. Using a flatbed scanner would have been so time-consuming and laborious that we just procrastinated for several years.Just before the holidays this year, I started getting serious about cleaning out, so the photo totes were on my radar again. After considering all the options, this Plustek photo scanner seemed like a low-risk investment. Well, I couldn’t be more ecstatic! It honestly took me longer to remove pictures from albums and sort them than it did to digitize them. This scanner is so fast and easy to use. The software loaded to my MacBook in minutes (I downloaded the software from the Plustek website, but it comes with a disc) then I was quickly up and running. I imported the vast majority of my photos in 300 DPI, and for digital viewing on a phone or Echo show, that is sufficient. At 300 DPI, it takes, I don’t know, 3 seconds per picture. The Plustek scanner scans them almost as quickly as I can feed them in (this is not a deal where you can stack 30 photos and just let it run; you have to feed pix 1 by 1) and it takes any size pic up to 8×10. We had little 2x2s, oddly shaped pix that were cut into circles and octagons, and it scanned them without drama. We spent about 15 hours organizing, tossing, scanning and importing to our online cloud service, but it was soooo worth it. We eliminated a ton of unused, and heavy, stuff, tossed EVERY paper pic we owned, and really transformed our storage space.I think the biggest win from this project is that photos we haven’t looked at in years now pop up on our Echo show and Apple TV streamer screen savers.I took the time to add dates to the pictures if I could come up with some reasonably accurate date-taken information. This was helpful. I also took the time to organize them into online albums. The extra effort is worth it.

    LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SCANNER!
I would give this 10+ if I could.I took a chance and purchased this scanner because my old one stopped working. I paid twice as much for my old scanner than this scanner. I bought this scanner in November but did not open it until February. Living not too far from the recent fires in Southern California and knowing the fire victims lost no only their homes but so many precious memories, I decided to stop procrastinating and open the box and get started. Setting up was really easy. I started scanning right away. The speed at which to scan photos was very fast. I actually had to go to YouTube to learn how to save my photos to a flash drive. It was very easy. It took me days to scan over 4,000 photos and I still have more to scan. I had old Polaroid photos that were thick and they glided through with no problem. My old scanner could not handle the thickness of the photos. It even scanned newspaper articles, small wallet sizes, 10×13, and torn photos. I will enhance all the photos that have faded later.

    I Love This Scanner
Like many others, I have multiple boxes of old photos, and I’ve started on the project of converting them to digital images. I put a lot of time into researching photo scanners, and the ones I was interested in were pretty pricey. Timewise, this project is out of the question using the flatbed scanner available in my printer. After a lot of research, I decided on this Plustek scanner. I’ve had it for about 7 or 8 months now, and I love it. You can scan up to 50 photos at a time with no buttons or adjustments – just feed the photos in one at a time. At 300dpi, the process is fast. The images drop into Plustec’s software, and you have the ability to do some editing and color adjustment. I’ve found that this software works well for me, is easy to use, and is all I need. I just want to get all these photos scanned in and organized and I’m not terribly interested in any serious editing at this point. I’m especially happy with the color enhancement that’s available for those old color photos from decades past that are fading or turning yellow – it really gives those photos new life, just by clicking on a button or two. I have other photo editing software on my laptop, and I’ll worry about serious editing later, if I even decide to go that far. After I’ve made any quick color adjustments, I just move the photos onto my hard drive, where I can organize them., and save them on an external hard drive. The Plustek scanner does a great job and has a very attractive price tag. The user manual is detailed and very helpful. I’ve heard good things about the customer service, but I haven’t needed to use it. There’s also a case available for it here on Amazon, and I keep it in the case on my desk to eliminate dust. The scanner doesn’t take up much room on the desk, so I keep it there to work on my scanning project when I have a little extra time. I recommend this scanner for anybody who’s looking to tackle a photo archiving project without breaking the bank.

Este scanner es exactamente lo que necesitaba para digitalizar gran cantidad de fotos antiguas. 2 a 3 segundos por foto. Si son muchas fotos, es recomendable guararlas en carpetas ordenadas por fecha o por tema. Muy recomndable

I looked at several options to scan thousands of old snaps and this scanner gave the best balance of price and performance. You have to feed each picture individually but it’s no hardship and scans in about 10 seconds (600dpi JPEG’s). Software just works (Mac). It figures out the scan area and straightens automatically so need to be perfect in your alignment. Simple and efficient. Great product.
