Can I use this Dutch oven on an induction stove top/oven ?
Overmont Dutch oven can be used on a gas stove top, induction stove top, charcoal grill, campfire and in the oven. Please do NOT put it in the microwave.
Is this pre-seasoned? Do I need to season it myself?
It is pre-seasoned with vegetable oil and ready to use. After each use, just lightly oil the inside of the pan with your oil of choice.
Can a Dutch oven rust?
Yes. Cooking food releases steam and after the oven is turned off and begins to cool down, this steam condenses to water. Moisture is what contributes to the rust of a cast-iron product.
What should I do if it is already rusted?
The rust is removable, follow our steps to cook, clean, season, and your cast Iron Dutch oven will last a lifetime. See our manual or rust removal video for details.
Is it normal for cast iron pans to have uneven thickness at the bottom?
It is normal. The bottom center of the pan is where it gets the warmest while cooking, so it will be thicker than the rest.

Perfection
These are perfect – the perfect size, perfectly seasoned, perfectly fit inside one another at a perfect price. They do come pre-seasoned, but there’s nothing like a good old-fashioned seasoning done by a good old-fashioned woman. They clean up wonderfully, nothing has stuck to them. The lid doubling as a pan is a fabulous idea.

EXCELLENT Dutch Oven For Sourdough Breads
I shopped around for a couple hours looking for a cast iron dutch oven for baking sourdough breads. My concerns were finding one with a good weight, a top that could also be used for cooking and fit well enough to seal in moisture, and a durable/maintainable and smooth surface. This pot was highly rated for bread cooking and it does not disappoint. The top sits very flat making a nice seal and the finish has held up nicely after half a dozen loafs. I preheat the pot to 450 degrees and drop the bread and some ice into it. The inside finish will slightly discolor but seasoning with some vegtable oil makes it look like new again. The surface is a little rough but objectionable. As with all cast iron pots it will need seasoning which i do while preheating my oven for the next loaf. Recommended Purchase!

Perfect for Sourdough baking!
I actually own 3 other Dutch Ovens. A HUGE one that was my Grandmother’s, a regular one that belonged to my Mother and another regular one that I bought 20 years ago. This pot is absolutely the same quality as those. I bough this Dutch Oven just to bake my Sourdough in.I grew up on a ranch on the Mexican-Arizona-California border. I probably ate more meals cooked in cast iron over a fire by the time I was 25 than most people would experience in their whole lives! But for those of you new to cast iron, there is maintenance you absolutely need to do.First-Heat your outdoor propane grill to as high as it goes. Using a paper towel, lightly coat the entire pot and lid, inside and out with shortening. Place it on your grill and close the lid. Let it “cook” for 30 minutes. Remove the pot and lid BEING VERY CAREFUL. Pot will be extremely hot and it is heavy. Set the pot and lid somewhere that the hot pot won’t scorch to cool down. After about 30 minutes, repeat the oiling and grill procedures. You need to do the coating and the cooking 3 times. Doing it outside is far better than smoking up and smelling up your kitchen when you do it in the oven.Don’t wash your cast iron. Clean it wit a paper towel or scrubby and then wipe it out with a damp, clean cloth. Dry it and then, using a paper towel, place a very light coating of shortening on the entire thing, inside and out. Rub it one more time with a paper towel to remove any excess coating. Shortening works best for everything but vegetable oil works well also. The picture is the pot i just purchased taken today while it is in my oven heating up prior to placing the bread dough in the pot and I have probably cooked 10-12 loaves of sourdough in it since it arrived. Cast Iron cookware is a great investment as it will last several human lifetimes if taken care of. For baking bread, a Dutch Oven is the ultimate baking tool.

Almost perfect
Good heavy cast iron Dutch oven. I use it to bake artisan bread and it works perfectly. The lid can be used as a skillet or fry pan for homemade biscuits, eggs, bacon, etc.My only complaint is with the handles on the lid. They are small and close to the pot making it difficult to remove the lid when it’s hot. I realize that because it can be used as a fry pan on top of the stove that it can’t have a handle on top, but I would have preferred a long handle on the side instead of the two little handles on each side. It’s easy to clean and looks great.

VERY worth the cost!
I’ve been using this Dutch oven for about 8 months now and I’m so happy with it! I’ve gotten nothing but good results with every loaf of bread made in this thing. I like being able to use the shallow pan as the bottom and the deep pot as the lid, so I’m not having to reach down into it to lift my bread out and risk getting burnt. For the low cost, it is a great quality Dutch oven and I recommend it highly to anyone getting in to bread baking at home.

Love the versatility
I used to have a fancy French enameled cast iron but my DH dropped the lid, which broke. I soon learned I should have thanked him, because the enamel on those cast iron pans is very high in lead and cadmium, with the fancy French brand being the worst. For my replacement I coveted a dutch oven. The word dutch in this phrase is that vernacular use for “fake.” I’m sorry for that abject racism towards the Dutch, but I’m talking about word origin here, not my personal opinion on Dutch people and culture. ; )With a genuine dutch oven there is a lip on the lid that will hold coals on top, so it can mimic an oven with a heat source above and below. But it seems real dutch ovens always have legs on the bottom and I really couldn’t imagine what it needs legs for unless cooking on an open fire, which I don’t have plans to do. I got this product because I imagined I could invert the lid to hold coals if I wished, because the handles are on the side, not the top. What’s more, the lid of this stands in as a smallish skillet. Yes, I have used the lid as a skillet to fry bacon and even eggs. Cook’s Illustrated reports that the most superior seasoning for cast iron is flaxseed oil, which evidently is what this cast iron dutch oven was pre-seasoned with. My fancy one was 6 liters which was actually too big. I typically cook for 2-5 people so this one is a perfect size for our family. I’m very happy with it.

I love how this is a dutch oven and pan!
From bread to cinnamon rolls and to soups this is a great addition to my kitchen. I recommend to season it before use even though it’s preseasoned. Helps it last longer and removes any residual seasoning from the factory

Es maciza y la tapa embona muy bien. Desde hace tiempo buscaba una olla qué me permitiera sellar la carne y después poderla hornear allí mismo. Excelente para hacer estofados
