Great home theater wall plate
I used this to wire in my remote home theater set up. My set up is installed in a closet near the room where the TV and surround system is set up. It does its job perfectly.The quality of the plate is great. None of the bind posts are stripped and they have a nice grippy texture to hang on to as you tighten them. I chose to put speaker wire ends in the bind posts rather than use banana plugs. Speaker wires and audio cables hold in place very nicely. Installed in a 3 gang wall box and the cover plate screw holes align perfectly. Fit and finish is good, and labels on each channel are easy to read.The installation turned out very clean and professional looking; I could not be happier. Highly recommend.

Good quality, easy to install
Worked perfectly, looks good. Very easy to install and very easy to attach speaker wires to. Overall, the part feels high quality and it looks as good as it is going to with a half dozen wires leading to it. Wish it came in ivory.I should mention that the sound quality from the speaker wires attached is good, the labeling is convenient, and with the right configuration of the wires, it’s actually aesthetically pleasing.

Good Plate…but caution with mounting
This is exactly what I needed to clean up my 7.1 surround sound distribution…Works great…looks nice…well labeled…gold connectors…perfect. However a word of caution…it is NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE to find a 3-gang low voltage bracket (the in-wall box) at any local electronics stores (I live in Houston, TX and tried all the big box chains, electrical supply houses, and even theater stores). It is even more difficult to find one that nails/screws in as part of NEW CONSTRUCTION. If you are building a new house, Arlington makes the ONLY nail-in bracket I could find (it is available on Amazon). If you are adding this to an existing wall (cutting a hole in drywall and installing it in the hole) you will find several options for “remodel” type brackets with the tabs that clip into the drywall…all of which are fine…but you should order them from Amazon at the same time as ordering this distribution plate. These are pretty much not available anywhere except online.

7.2 features spring terminals and not banana plugs
I bought a used 7.2 2-gang Monoprice plate, and i returned it as “Defective” although I now believe that it was not broken, but just poorly designed.After looking at photos of all of the different wall plates, the 7.2 is different. It has little springy buttons that you depress to insert the wires, then release to hold the wire in place. The mechanism that achieves this precludes use of some banana plugs. The monoprice ones are not firmly held but instead rattle around. The openings are small, but inside the barrel is much larger than any banana plug. I simply believe that the 7.2 is not designed for use with banana plugs. I probably got the used one that someone else returned for the same issue.Seemed like a well made product, but i wanted one that was compatible with banana plugs, and that did not seem to be this one. The photos of the 5.1 and the 8.2 show different terminals so this review does not apply to those products.1-star is pretty arbitrary, but is there to serve as a warning. Also 1-star to monoprice for not understanding the products they sell. I spoke with them on the phone and they assured me that it would work with the plugs. If you were hooking bare speaker wire into both sides of this, easy 5 star, as its well made and the springs were firm, with plenty of room for 12ga wire. Amazon/Monoprice should move this into a separate item as the description should be different.

Perfect, Closest to 9.2.4 I could find
NOTE: buy a 3 gang low voltage box, it doesn’t come with the faceplate.I combined this with a few Monoprice 2 speaker faceplates to get where I wanted to be, this is one of the better ones I have found. the rear (in the wall) allows you to insert the bare wire or use banana plugs, for in-wall I prefer bare wire so it cant rattle free. all around this worked perfectly and didn’t introduce any off sounds. Highly recommend.

Makes for professional Installation
Well made, sturdy, looks professional. Easy to install and connect speaker wires. Web site provides additional information and hints for more complex installations. Very happy with product. Much more competitive pricing on the wall plate (and a better, more sturdy product) than what is available at local stores. However the 3 G box (which goes behind it) is much less expensive at the local store.

Not using it in the way it’s intended to be used. I bought 3 coz for 2:99 each you can’t buy the bits for that. I’ve made speaker /dummy load changeover switches with them and 2 double throw light switches so when testing amplifiers as I do, I don’t have to be unplugging stuff constantly as I need to change between the speakers to hear the amps and 500 watt 8 ohm dummy load resistors with spectrum analyser and Oscilloscope across the dummy loads. Quality of banana sockets is very good and the plastic plate is well sturdy. Banana plugs fit in them not too tight and don’t fall out. Cheapest way of doing what I need to do, I’ll be getting more to construct changeover speaker selectors for the various things that need to happen. They’ll be great for normal hifi use I’m sure
