Simple, Fast, Elegant
I have been looking at this coffee maker for some time and pulled the trigger once the price hit my target range. It is very simple, brews very fast, and produces great coffee. No clock or timer so I plugged it into a smart outlet and have it on a schedule through an app, works like a charm. Only watchout for this is if the coffee maker reaches auto shutoff time before the outlet is turned off, the next day will not brew right, have to cycle the power button. I have since programmed an off time for the outlet or turn it off manually when I fill my last cup of coffee.

Simple but Simply Brilliant
I know, I know! These things aren’t cheap. You can buy a nice coffee maker that will turn itself on before you get up in the morning for somewhere around a third the price, and it will be “pretty good.” However, they tend to be difficult to clean (esp. the water tanks) and largely made of plastic with rubber pipes. There is plenty of plastic on the Moccamaster, too…but all very hi grade. Better, the internal “piping” is copper, and less prone to contamination from calcium deposits, etc. One factor with a lot of budget coffee makers is the difficulty of cleaning the water tank: mold can grow where it is damp and warm for extended periods: the Moccamaster’s tank isn’t easily;y removable, but it IS easily cleaned with a soft sponge (nice wide opening). What e have here is great engineering, incredible longevity (or so owner’s say) and really great tasting coffee.

Big Upgrade
In brief:-Makes wonderful coffee quickly.-I was initially disappointed with the carafe. Seemed flimsy and the handle ergonomics are not good. For such an expensive unit it seemed like a big miss. At least make a handle that feels good in your hand. I’m over this now because of the coffee quality. Also, don’t try to pour fast.-Needs more ground coffee than what we used with the Cuisinart – but it’s worth it!-1.25L (42oz) is not a lot of coffee, but it brews quickly. Seems like a European cup is 4 oz while it’s 6 in the US.Had a Cuisinart drip unit for years, which took a long time to brew and made ok coffee. My spouse works at a local coffee company and we get whole beans cheap, that said, we still preferred Starbucks Verona. We purchased the (expensive) Moccamaster on sale ($100 off) and used their recipe of 7 scoops per pot (1.25L) – WOW! The coffee brewed quickly and was delicious. We now prefer the locally roasted coffee to Verona and have settled on 6 slightly rounded scoops for a full pot. We buy dark roast whole beans and use an OXO burr grinder set to medium. Brew time is around 6 minutes.I expect this to be the last coffee maker we ever buy. If you like coffee, buy one.

Love this Amazing, fast and smooth Coffe Maker <3 <3 <3
I got rid of my Breville Brewmaster Precision Brewer and replaced it with the Moccamaster KBGV Select. I couldn't be happier. First and foremost the brewmaster allowed for setting the temp but never made a cup hotter than 136 degrees unless you brewed a half carafe or more (approx, 32 ounces). Granted, the Brewmaster is bigger but what is the point of having a temp setting if it doesn't work. I wasted a ton of coffee just to get something hot (and no, the microwave ruins the coffee). This beautiful unit however can brew a single cup at a piping 186 degrees within 4 minutes; and it tastes great! The only downside is that you have no control over the bloom. Basically blooming is soaking the beans for a set amount of time before releasing to the carafe. I typically bloom for about 30 seconds. But here is a trick, start the brew before putting the carafe under the maker and you have a poor man's bloom! I never wait long enough to have it overflow over the top. This is pretty much unnecessary on this coffee pot as the coffee comes out great every time. Finally I have found a simple coffee pot that simply does what it was designed for without over architecting needless technology or any gimmicks. Some other tips:Never put tap water into these machines. Use distilled water and you will rarely if ever have to descale the unit.If you grind your own beans you can simply set the grinder to a set time for the measure. No need to use the spoon or anything.Everybody has a favorite coffee roaster. I stumbled upon Two Brothers out of Chicago and they have a consist process that gives me exactly what I am looking for in coffee. I use other brands for espresso.Enjoy your coffee!!!

A mighty machine…
We love the design of this pot, not only because it looks so cool, but because it’s built to stay clean! We pulled away from the one cup pod thing a while ago and purchased a maker with the water well in the rear. After time, it built up residue and we were concerned about mold because we just couldn’t get way down to clean it properly. This pot has the well in clear sight, allowing us to maintain it crystal clear and clean always.I love that there’s not a million settings including a clock and auto timer. This pot is basic, but so amazing. We set it all up the night before and first thing when we wake, push the button and by the time you grab what you need…it’s done because it brews so fast! The pot brews quickly and distributes the water evenly over the grinds allowing for a robust cup of coffee. It’s cool to watch it brewing because you can see the water boiling up from the core and pushing up through the top of the pot. Many of the posts say to use a medium grind, we don’t. We love a deep dark fine roast (espresso blend) and it brews perfectly! The only reason we didn’t give it five stars is because of two improvements we think would make it the ultimate appliance. First, I wish it were a larger pot of coffee. A 12 cup pot would be awesome! Next, the pot feels so light. When you touch it, if feels like a cheap plastic pot. The reason the weight isn’t concerning is because we know through reading all the testimonials that this pot is built to last…but we only wished it would have been more substantial to the touch. If the pot were heavier and brewed 12 cups, we would have given it ten bazillion stars…

The product came damaged! It’s a shame that after seeing so many reviews of this excellent product it comes this way. I gave myself the opportunity to make such a big expense and I am very disappointed.

No solo es bonita, veloz y fácil de usar. Lo más importantes es el excelente café que se obtiene.

Our grind and brew machine died on us and so we started using a French press and/or Areo press. Both options worked fine, but I like to make a pot in the morning so my wife can have a cup, and I can take the rest to work in a thermos.I started watching reviews on drip coffee makers and came across this unit. Everything about it was appealing.-THE LOOK- Aesthetically, it’s stunning. Timeless, classic look. It’s very clean, the textured finish looks very durable, doesn’t finger print, and the color choices are excellent. (I wanted the pistachio color but once I pulled the trigger couldn’t wait for it to be shipped so opted for my second choice). While brewing it looks neat as the water bubbles up the center column and into the outlet.-THE BREWING OPTIONS- Very basic controls, but the half pot select allows you to not only brew a half pot, but modifies blooming duration. From there the sky is the limit with grind options and strength without all the buttons and programming. It’s also pretty fast- full pot in 6 minutes.-THE TASTE- I’ve had it 5 days and have made 7-8 pots… It’s the best tasting coffee (obviously the beans, grind and everything can make the difference… but when I have a Tim Hortons or Starbucks it’s just not the same) and I drink black coffee.-THE DESIGN- If it ain’t broke… this design has been around for 50 years and is hand made in the Netherlands and comes with a 5 year warranty. It’s not ground breaking but that’s the point. Keep it simple. Quality parts, copper heating element, and separate elements for water heating and the carafe. The removable water outlet arm is a nice touch if it gets a fingerprint on it or if your need to clean- simply pop off.-THE PRICE- Ok, so this is super expensive for “just a coffee brewer” but personally I’d rather spend big money on a quality piece that has service able parts, rather than a machine 1/3 the price that may only last 2-4 years. This is a lifetime machine if cared for. Personally I drink at least 3 large black coffees/ day. Starbucks dark roast black is $4.00 CAD. It’ll pay for itself in no time.-THE ONLY NEGATIVE- The glass carafe seems really fragile and thin. I’m paranoid it will break. I do not allow anyone to operate my machine as I’m scared they wouldn’t be as careful as I when I rinse it.So if you buy pre ground coffee and want an easy pot of coffee, or like to grind fresh and experiment in grams per liter, ground size etc… but must have the best- buy this.
