Basically a kid friendly GTA for the little ones
I didn’t fully know what to expect, I got it mostly for being able to build and drive Lego vehicles. We have’t gotten too far, probably only 2% of the game, because my kids (4 and 8) pretty much only want to drive and crash into people and things at full speed, watch them re-spawn, and do it again to watch Lego people go flying. The 4 year old spent half an hour driving the car into a golf putt cup, over and over, laughing the whole time. It’s cool how there’s an automatic transformation between boat and ground vehicles. It has a very nice world to drive, climb, jump, and crash in, as well as a test course with more jumps and things to hit.I’ve tried the vehicle builder. It’s a bit complicated, but it should be expected, considering the vast catalog of Lego pieces and how to assemble them. I’d give 5 stars, but there are some parts to the builder I feel make it incomplete. First, not all the Lego catalog is available in the game. Understandably, they’d want to limit it to vehicle type pieces, but some you’d find in the actual car sets aren’t available. Case in point, I was trying to build the #76908 Lamborghini Countach. First thing, the chassis piece was ever so slightly different, and the wheels/mounts were fixed in place, with the front and back reversed. No way to switch them or the car would look like it’s always driving backwards. So, I tried to improvise (I was actually trying to use the construction manual), but ran into not being able to build sections independently, then stick on later. You have to completely build from the chassis out. This made improvising impossible. The last problem before I had to give up was, not all the technic pieces are available. You can’t “fake” it with non-connected pieces. So, don’t set your expectations to construct advanced real world builds. The rest I’ll have to explore when the kids go to bed. 😉
