    Used book
I bought this thinking it was a new book, but it is clearly used and has labels outside, although it has no interior markings and the pagination is the same as my husband’s new copy.

    Super for Latin American Travel
As one reviewer noted, if you are taking a college literature course, this dictionary may not be the best for you. In contrast, if you are traveling in Lating America, this is the one to take. Just as British, Australian and American English vocabulary differ, so too do many words in various Latin American countries. This dictionary tells you those differences. It also enlightens you as to the meaning of the profanity you may hear as you travel about.

Durable cover, convenient size, respectable coverage for a pocket dictionary…
Unlike other dictionaries that label themselves ‘pocket’ editions without passing the pocket test, this one does actually fit into my pockets, and has a durable vinyl cover to make it practical to carry around without it getting constantly damaged. Further, its compact size enables for quick searching. It has about 80% of the terms I look for during my 5 weeks in Mexico (I am an intermediate student of Spanish), and even does a decent job of helping me look up words in an effort to decipher Harry Potter in Spanish.Often the verbs are located as sub-categories within the entry for their associated adjective (e.g. the verb to stick might be listed under sticky rather than separately in the margin), but this is tolerable once you figure it out.It does a respectable job of providing context for the various common uses of words where it can, even giving some country-specific descriptions (e.g., checar is a verb used in Mexico alone). It might be slightly more difficult for non-French speakers to use in those instances where a list of translations is given without contextual explanations.Overall, it delivers more or less what I would expect from a pocket dictionary in both form and content. Hopefully, more recent editions have overcome some of its minor shortcomings:Langenscheidt’s Pocket Dictionary Spanish: Spanish-english / English-spanish (Langenscheidt Pocket Dictionary)
