All Hide & Drink leather products are handmade from rustic, durable, Full Grain Leather. Our Full Grain Leather comes from the top layer of the hide, and has all the natural full grain characteristics of the hide…hence the name. It’s the best leather you can buy and the only leather that we use.
The flesh side of the soft leather is first stained with a natural drab tone and finished with our proprietary beeswax conditioner. Our unique treatment helps the leather to retain its shape without the aid of synthetic stabilizers, offering a natural and durable look.

Amazing value! Very well made.
I am a frequent purchaser of H&D products and this may well be one of my favorites!Don’t listen to the naysayers. Especially the person that felt the need to cut and stitch their cover. No reason at all to do that. This is a real leather product and it will wear and form itself beautifully over time. Yes, the folds are not creased, but that doesn’t matter.I clamped mine between two hard cover books with Irwin Quick Clamps and it creased perfectly. If you don’t have clamps, any heavy enough weight should do the trick, just might have to leave it for longer.Looks great. Feels great. Smells great. I can’t wait to see how this gets even better over time!

Simple, Effective, Leather
It comes delivered in a simple cloth bag. The bag is sealed with a leather cord but is itself made of linen. Opening the bag overwhelms you with the smell of leather and a strange smile.The thing itself is beautiful, tactile, and smells lovely. My biggest requirement for this was that it fit in my pocket. It did, and there was room for a notebook, a pen, and a few cards as well. I’m not going to say that this will replace your wallet, but it replaced mine.I jam it, uncarefully, into a pocket with my payment methods, a field notebook, and a pen jammed into it through my pocket hole and let the magic of hide and drink take care of the rest.

Works great for my planner
I bought this cover to protect my Knights of Columbus annual planner that I get every year. I had to fold back the cover on the planner a bit since the face dimensions are the same as a Field Notes planner, but it is about an inch thick, after a bit of trial and error, it fits just fine. Great item!

Almost perfect
Loved the leather and presentation, with the cute bag and hand stamped and hand written cards included. The leather will wear nicely…I like leather to show signs of use and look old, it’s not so perfect that you don’t want to use it. This can be shoved into pockets and backpacks, used and abused, and it will just get better with age. The only tiny thing that prevents it from being absolutely perfect is that it was a little tall for a 3.5” x 5.5” book, with at least a 1/4” spare wriggle room, making the notebook look a little lost in it. I would prefer a more snug fit personally, which could be achieved by placing the stitching line slightly further towards the edge, and not having that 1/4” gap between the top of the notebook and the stitching…but that is only a very minor problem and I am 95% thrilled with this cover.

Durable Well-Made Keeper
I rarely write a review of any product, and usually when I do I haven’t liked it all that much. But this product I love. I’ve kept small notebooks in my pockets for years to jot down things. They’ve always ended up shredded and pages torn out.With this, no worries. The notebooks last because they are well protected. I like that it’s so well made and holds a simple beauty. I can fit my notebook and a spare in it easily. When I’m ready to transfer notes, all is in order.Finally, I like that it’s made in North America; in Mexico in particular.

Workable…
Was expecting a more refined pocket notebook sleeve based on the pictures and description. This is not an elegant product. The construction is basic with thicker leather – and single stitching (hoping, not expecting the thread to hold up).Because the thicker leather is folded over on itself, the right edge of the closed notebook sleeve is 4 layers thick (and significantly more rigid than the rest of the 2-layer more flexible notebook).. Because of this, it won’t work well in my back pocket… will need to figure out I want to carry it (too bulky for a shirt pocket, but would work in a sport jacket pocket).I do like the soft leather feel: however I would return it if it wasn’t such a bother. In general, an acceptable notebook cover for the price.

Great little cover! My notebooks would get wrecked in my pockets and fall apart but this simple but beautiful little cover is great at protecting them! It also has a little slide in pocket for a loose card or other small note you may need. Leather itself is very nice and the distressed leather is beautiful. Can’t get better than this for this price!
