Functional!!!
It’s great, it has what I needed. I was looking for a coffee maker that didn’t have a glass carafe. I’ve had a few broken ones, and this one is perfect! It works great and I really liked that I can program it to turn on when I need it.

Update——2nd one lasted 3 months!
New update- our 2nd one stopped working after 3 months they only give you a one month return window this sucks!!!! We push the cup and nothing is coming outUpdate—>ive had this less then a year, it was working perfect, we loved it, but last week it started leaking the water from the reservoir, so now we can keep the reservoir tank placed in position until we are ready to make the coffee, we’re so bummed out!!!!We are so happy with this purchase, before after one hour our other coffee pot would turn off, and the coffee would get cold this when you can program it between 1 to 4 hours to stay on, we bought a reusable filter so we don’t have to keep buying the paper ones just make sure after you’re done using it when you clean out that reusable filter lift up the other part underneath and rinse that really good so the coffee does it take on the bottom and you’re using new coffee over old coffee. It works great. We love it and very happy we purchased it 🙂

Flawed design and horrible quality
We owned one of the original brew stations we got back in 2005 and had for 10 years without any problem. Really loved that design. Not even sure why we went back to a carafe coffee maker but we did. A Cuisinart, which just died after 8 years due to hard water. We got this new brew station all excited to get back to this design of coffeemaker, anticipating a new and improved model. WRONG! We received it and of course it’s in the box from the manufacturer ONLY and slightly beat up, not double boxed or protected. Opened it up and it looked fine inside the bag but when I opened it the top had scuffs and scratches on it. My first thought was it was used. Not to be deterred I opened everything else up, removed labels and tape and everything else seemed fine, except that absolutely terrible drip tray design. Whoever designed that should be fired immediately. Everything is made from extra flimsy plastic. No confidence in long term durability. It also has no rubber feet on front 2 recessed areas that look like rubber feet should stick there to stop it from sliding, which it does. Very annoying. I thought maybe they were just missing but turns out that is the design. UGH. It brewed great coffee. I ignored some of the reviews that cited some of these problems, possibly the worst of which is that when it’s done brewing, it never stops making the noise which sounds like it’s brewing. REALLY annoying and fairly loud gurgling. There is also no audible alarm to tell me it’s done brewing, as our Cuisinart model did. Didn’t realize how meaningful that feature was, at least to us. The removable water reservoir is nice. Doesn’t come with a filter for the water tank, that’s optional and costs extra, as does a gold basket filter. We ordered the Hamilton Beach gold basket filter that is recommended for 8-12 cup coffee makers and it’s small. If you’re brewing more than 10 cups or using more than 4 scoops, it tends to overflow, getting coffee grounds in the coffee tank. Paper filter works better for anything over 10 cups. Wanted to love this coffee maker but we ordered another one, thinking maybe we just had a defective model and the replacement was identical, right down to the scratches and other previously mentioned issues. So we went back to the drawing board and ordered the Cuisinart Coffee Maker, 12 Cup Programmable Drip, DCC-3000P1 for $84.17. The Hamilton Beach model was $69.99+$9.99 for the gold basket. We didn’t feel like spending the extra for the water filter as we use bottled water for coffee. The Cuisinart model is EVERYTHING the Hamilton Beach should be. The drip tray is a good design. It has a light underneath so you can see what you’re doing when dispensing the coffee. It doesn’t slide and has a bar to press on the front to dispense coffee instead of having to press the mug against a dispenser bar in the back which then causes the unit to slide. It comes with a bigger and properly sized gold basket filter AND a water filter in tank. BONUS FOR US: our previous carafe based Cuisinart coffee maker used the same water filters so we don’t have to waste those and the look and feel of the interface is close to the same. It also sounds an audible alarm when finished brewing and is totally quiet after brewing is finished. It came from the manufacturer double boxed and the build quality is far better. The plastic seems much less flimsy than the HB. Unfortunately we had to go through the hassle of using and being let down by 2 of these Hamilton beach models but in the end we found our dream coffee maker in that Cuisinart listed above. Do yourself a favor and check them both out before ordering. The reviews also reflect the difference between the 2 and the Cuisinart was actually the same price as the HB with the extras you have to order. I would gladly have paid more for the Cuisinart as it’s about as close to perfect for this design and price point of coffee maker. I can’t say enough about it.
