Susan at Rivet –
Best quick reference for business writers
This book is always sitting next to me while I work. I’m constantly referring to it, whether I’m on a call with a client or writing content. I highly recommend this book to take the place of the Thesaurus you’ve been using, especially if you are writing business-related content.

Must have for translators and writers

A learning tool
This book delivers more of all it promises. Not just a unique thesaurus, but a fantastic learning tool as well. It helps me have confidence with my writing. Good Words Fast helps teach me the impact of expressing what I want to say better.Don’t pass by the preface and helpful tips. In this section Oliver Dirs reignited my love for my language and really set the excitement of using the book.I love writing, but I’m embarrassed to say I often need help with it. Because of this book, my writing will better and more engaging. This book makes it fun getting there.

I use this book more than my style guide!
I’m a business editor and writer, and have been looking for such a book for years. I have the Kindle version and keep the thesaurus open using the PC reader as I edit. The Kindle search feature usually turns up all the alternatives I need in just a second, for tired words like “challenge.” I don’t really actually flip through the book. My editing has gone up a notch with this book!

Valuable resource for writers!
I use this book frequently and have recommended it to the entire team of writers at our organization. Oliver’s book should be a fixture on every writer’s desk.

I recently purchased this book as a helpful quick reference to add more flavour to translations (mainly financial translations) that could otherwise end up rather repetitive and dull. I find it as quick to use as any online thesaurus, but more targeted towards my work as it is written by a translator himself. Definitely a useful companion to have on hand.

A great resource for when I need to add a bit more “zing” to my translations – I always keep it to hand on my desk.
Patricia Will –
Very useful resource for “into English” translators working in the fields of corporate communications or marketing. A great tool to spice up your writing.

I’m a translator and editor and I love this book. I find it more useful than a traditional thesaurus for the type of texts I work on. In a matter of seconds I can find exactly the right word I want.

Ordered the paperback edition after it was mentioned at a translator conference last week. Lots of synonyms for all those words that come up time and again in translation into English. Useful! Recommended!
