Expect Years of Trouble Free Operation
This printer replaced an Epson WP4530 series Printer-Scanner-Copier-Fax that had served us for several years in our home based business. After countless B/W & Color pages with never a breakdown or failure, the print quality was starting to degrade even after frequent head cleaning and aligning. We still have it online on our network for printing internal documents where the quality is acceptable. That printer was, as well as our new WP4730 is connected via wifi and never drops the connection. The print quality is excellent, even down to 6pt type, and the colors are true. All the different functions operate quietly, and efficiently.I can recommend Epson P-S-C-F machines and will continue to buy Epson products.

Excellent product, good price
Does everything well, reliable, versatile and fast. I see some complaining about ink cost–but I’m an individual, not a business. In other words, I don’t use that much ink, so it is not an issue for me in the long run. Overall, it is very pleasing and well done.Edit: There is one issue with the ink. When you haven’t used it for awhile or are replacing cartridges, it does seem to use an astonishing amount of ink to prepare. I went from about 45% of a cyan cartridge to about 5% just because I replaced a yellow cartridge. (This was not the XL, just regular.) That is really unacceptable. They wonder why people don’t want to use “genuine Epson” ink. Gosh, I wonder why.

Total and complete garbage
Do you like to print or scan? If you do, then this printer is for you. You will spend hours and hours clearing paper jams and trying to get the ADF or trays 1/2 to feed. Great functionality of this printer for those of you that enjoy this Sisyphean task is the WiFi. This allows you to have the printer anywhere in your house thus making the process truly painful. As soon as you get back to your computer, you have to get up to go clear the jam. What it lacks in mechanical prowess, this glorified plastics pollution creator makes up in print and scan quality. Did you ever wonder how 9 pin dot matrix looked and what improvements 24 pins brought? Fret none, you will learn it quickly. All scans will take you back to the 90s and you will relive the glories of thermal fax paper quality only on your high DPI 4K monitor. What else can possibly be said? Yes, the ink. I am sure it lasts a long time. I am unable to confirm it however. It looks like the NSA uses my printer all night every night after drugging my family into sleep. That is the only possible explanation for print longevity. Maybe IRS statues are being printed secretly. That right there is more reasonable than saying that print cartridges are long lasting. All of this is coupled to a fantastic software whose sole purpose is to generate clicks. It is as if some manager came to the software guys and said: “Team, pay per click is all the rage now. Make it take as many clicks as possible.” Or maybe the guy that did the software is just misanthrope. What else can be said about this item? I guess what you need to know is that in 19 years on Amazon and thousands of purchases this is the first review. I just felt an urge tonight to save someone. Even if I can save one person from being tricked into Epson garbage I feel like I have completed what the good Lord has put me on the earth to do. Let me put it another way. If you really want to buy it, just PM me and I will send you mine for just the cost of shipping. It is yours.

Want Professional Photo Quality Portraits? And great everyday copies too?
Love the improvements on this WF-4730 – much more quiet, seems to use much less ink.The larger touch screen has clear directions, much easier to read than on the WF-3640. The screen is on a panel that can be rotated to whatever angle you need it to be for easier viewing. Both B&W and color print much faster than my WF-3640. I was really exited when I saw my first color print on Epson Ultra Premium Color Print Glossy paper. WOW, great color and finish – like a professional photo! So far no complaints! And It was easier to set up than almost any printer I have ever had.

It’s not perfect for printing photos as it’s still missing other colors …
Setup took a little while. Updating the latest firmware and setting up wireless to my router. I printed a test page and it’s very quick. It’s not perfect for printing photos as it’s still missing other colors as well. It may do okay, but, stick to getting a photo printer for that case. Other than that, the print quality is okay. I can’t say that this is like laser print quality, it’s much clearer than my previous all in one printer which I bought back in 2010. This one is quick with printing color and black and white with ease. When looking closely at the print, you could still tell that it’s like inkjet, but, more improved. Also, keep in mind that this isn’t a full toner cartridge. When shaking the toner, I heard it swishing around alot and it sounds like it’s not filled all the way. I’m just hoping it doesn’t dry up like how it does on my previous printer and will update if I noticed anything else.

Highly recommend it
So far this has been a awesome printer. I bought this to replace my horrible HP Printer. HP makes good products just avoid their printers. This prints very fast and good quality. Ink lasts a long time and never had any trouble with the Wi-Fi connectivity and air print unlike the HP I had with always had issues and had to restart it in order to air print. This one air prints every time. I wish it would let me put the glossy paper in the second paper tray but the only setting for glossy is the top tray. Other than that it’s perfect. I would highly recommend this printer or any Epson printer over the over rated HP Printers.

The first ~400-500 pages worked ok and the quality was ok. WiFi connectivity was good.[UPDATED] Terrible, awful, bad. DO NOT BUY.This has been my second Epson Workforce inkjet printer. Both have died prematurely and have been wasteful and disappointing experiences. The 4730 has not survived through a single replacement of the 802 ink cartridges. It has ~600 pages printed, and now the print head seems to be failing. The first signs of the print head failing came shortly after the first replacement of the ink cartridges (genuine Epson ink). I bought a second set of replacement 802 ink cartridges to see if the first batch of cartridges were faulty, but that hasn’t helped. I was also surprised to learn that when replacing the ink cartridges, almost half of the new ink gets used to flush the system. This is an outrageously poor fluidics design from Epson. The Epson ink is expensive at roughly $200 CAD for the set of 4 with XL black, and there doesn’t appear to be a strong aftermarket for these cartridges. So, I spent $115 on this printer, then I spent nearly $400 on Epson ink. That’s roughly $500 to print ~600 colour pages, but the last 100 pages have been diagnostic prints to see if I could get the printer working again. That’s pushing $1.00 per page, and I also need to buy a new printer.I guess there’s a reason that wire cutter stopped recommending the Epson workforce printers… By purchasing Epson inkjet printers, I’ve managed to damage my mental health while also paying more to get less. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice…I guess this was my fault for giving Epson a second chance.

Do not buy this printer. It may be cheap, but to keep it going is very expensive. It goes through ink really quickly and to replace the ink it is close to $200 CDN. We use it as a family printer, so mostly black and white, some colour for kids projects etc. but not heavily used overall, despite it running out of ink so quickly. We’ve been using it for about a year and a half and have had to replace the ink (all 4 cartridges twice), however, the last time we replaced the ink (we’ve only used Epson brand ink from Staples), it seems the print heads are now not working properly as the ink is barely coming out, and if it does, it’s quite streaky. Googling this there seems to be a lot of similar complaints with print head blockage resulting in poor print quality, so I purchased a kit to clean the print heads as I’d already bought new ink and did not want it to go to waste, but this did not work either. I’ll be replacing this printer, as much as I hate the idea of it already taking up space in a landfill somewhere, as I am tired of wasting time and money on this one. It probably would have been cheaper to get everything printed at Staples over the last year and a half versus the amount of money paid for the printer, ink and cleaning kit. This printer is not worth the money.
The Perfect Order –
I purchased this about a year ago and initially the printer appeared to work fine. Then I started started getting paper jams, even while trying to scan from the ADF, which never worked. I could only scan from the scanner glass, but it is a hit and miss. The software is not as developed or user friendly as that from Hewlett Packard. The price of ink on this is very expensive, hardly any decent sales online. After using this printer for a few months, I decided to upgrade my rating to three stars, since no new problems have surfaced. I don’t print as often as before and the ink still has good output well after leaving it in the printer for up to five weeks, unlike my HP that I previously owned.

The scanning program no longer has the same amount of options for type of document scanned and therefore Text enhancement performs poor on this model. Unit also died after 9 months of use. Fatal error. Unit will be replaced by Epson but with a refurbished model and only the original unit’s term of guaranteed is granted. I have a Workforce 840 as well which has given me no problems whatsoever. The ink for this printer does not come in Extra High Capacity. Just regular capacity. Get ready to shell out major bucks for usage. Obviously Epson’s way of getting extra cash from you. Therefore not ideal for office use. New is not always better.
A Turcot –
This printer worked well until it didn’t. The epson software had non stop problems, only epson brand ink worked in the printer. I spent more time searching online to troubleshoot issues with the printer than it was worth and except for the scanner software, I could never get the printer software to work. The software that I couldn’t get to work constantly needed updating for who knows what reason. This also meant that I couldn’t change settings when one ink cartridge was empty and often couldn’t print without buying all 4 which were very expensive and did not last long. Maybe very tech savvy people would be fine with this printer but for the average person it requires a lot of setup and maintenance and still comes up with problems – I was actually hoping it would save me time not add to my to dos. I also could not find any contacts for epson to troubleshoot these issues. Go with something much cheaper and simpler, as there is no added benefit to the office features when wifi capabilities will do everything you need anyway.
