A lot for the money
I bought this to replace an aging HP 5300 series Photosmart printer that wasn’t worth the cost of replacement ink. This printer came quickly via USPS with free shipping. Easy to unpack. Removed all the blue tape, followed the setup instructions and installed the ink. All easy to do. Installed the software, which took a bit of time. Then connected the USB cable to my PC. I will use this printer for the same purpose as the HP, to print CDs. Well, I have used a program called Sure Thing CD Labeler Deluxe for about 5 years. So I gave it a shot with my new Epson. Nada. After running five CDs through using Sure Thing, all with very badly offset results, I finally took a look at the software that came with the printer and that was installed on my PC. Lo and behold, Epson has program called CD Print. So I went about configuring a new label for CDs I sell and following the directions exactly as supplied by Epson, produced a perfect CD! So, I am back in business. This printer is very compact, and the control panel, which has a myriad of options and nicely colored graphics, is quite sensitive, which was a bit of a problem for my big fingers, but, with a little practice, I got the hang of it. It requires virtually no pressure to change from one selection to another. I will probably give the scan feature a try soon, but I have another scanner that works perfectly, so that is not a priority.Bottom line: For about $100.00 this is a very good printer. I think it will do what I need. The letters and graphics on the printed CD were deep and crisp, which is a good thing. I have no idea how long the the ink will last, but that is not an issue at all. I’m happy with this, and that’s what counts.

Good printer for the money but find a cheap ink source.
There’s something about these reviews that almost make them worthless. Especially the strange negative ones that site silly or non existent flaws.Such as: There’s no fax program noticed after purchase ( no kidding Sherlock), the ink cartridges are taped to the styrofoam packaging and hard to find ( if you’re blind and have no sense of touch), It’s difficult to set up ( true if you have had no contact with technology and can’t read). The paper loading tray is too complicated. ( You’ve got to be kidding me )What I find is that’s it’s simple to set up although it takes some time, just do it in a methodical manner and you’ll be okay. It prints text clearly and fast.I don’t print my photos or DVD’s so I can’t speak to that.I like the paper tray as you can load standard sheets of paper in one tray and photo paper in another and leave it there. Much better than removing and loading the different types. What I don’t like is the inability to print text in draft, good or best. That’s why some reviewers point to the high use of ink. It always prints at it’s best. You have to consider using off brand ink products or budget lot’s of cash for ink. Some reviewers have said that it stops printing when out of any color ink. I haven’t had this printer long enough to know about that, but Consumer Reports claims it will print in black when a color runs out. The answer to this contradiction may be that if you’re printing a black text only document it will print, but if there is any color in the document it won’t.The capability to print from smart phones and other portable devices is also a nice advantage although I honestly haven’t done it yet, although I trust the printer to perform this simple task.My final negative is for the way Amazon packed the printer and extra ink supply I ordered using 1 sheet of brown paper to protect the ink cartridges. That was like shipping eggs and a bowling ball in the same box.

VERSATILE! Best one for small volume printing of CD’s and DVD’s for the money! GREAT quality photo printing, too.
I LOVE this printer. It makes LOVELY copies, prints, and photos.AND OF COURSE, it prints BEAUTIFULLY on printable CD’s and DVD’s!The only drawbacks are:One – the very small cartridges, which need to be changed often when doing high volume printing – and,Two – the automatic feature of allowing a limited preset number of prints before the dreaded “END OF LIFE” message appears, which only really means that the waste pad might be full and needs resetting. But I got around both of these drawbacks and kept mine working much longer. One: Instead of expensive cartridges, I purchased refillable ones from InkOwl here:[…]TWO: After it only printed around 300 CD’s it I got the message that the waste pad was full (It is set that way to not allow it to overflow). So, instead of buying a completely new printer, I found I could buy a RESET KEY for around $20 from OctoInkjet:[…]You can also use the reset key without attaching the printer ‘potty’ that comes with it, and your printer will continue printing as usual. However if you do attach the ‘potty’, it will collect the waste ink and prevent it from eventually spilling over onto your desk if the pad does overflow.I don’t know why they didn’t just make the waste ink pad bigger! But regardless of the drawbacks – for the money, this is the best quality printer for printing on CD’s and DVD’s if you only need to print them in small batches.

Very good printer but the cd print software is not compatible with Windows 10

Great product for the price. I bought it to print DVDs and works great! It took a bit of trial and error until I discovered the sequence to print discs. Intuitively you would want to place the disc tray in the printer before hitting print, not in this case, after it is ready to accept the tray it will inform you. All in all am well satisfied.

This printer lasted 9 months before it called for ink sponge replacement and the nozzles became blocked. THis was my second XP-620 – the previous one did the same thing. Suitable for very light duty printing with a lot of TLC Have ordered a Canon to replace it.My Epson Stylus Photo 1400 is a real workhorse and has printed flawlessly for over 5 years.
