Very User-Friendly
I have always had Epson printers, and this one does not disappoint. It was easy to set up and add to my LAN. It’s faster than my previous printer and the copies are sharp and clear. It is also perfect for small spaces. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an efficient, inexpensive printer for home use.

Works fine.. no problems
This is the second XP-5100 I’ve bought because it’s a great A.I.O. printer but this one cost a lot more than the first one.

Not five stars because not easy to print with less than a full page.
I am still experimenting with printing on less than a full blank page. I did it one time and failed several times, but I will surely learn how to be successful.Epson talked into buying this contemporary model (my last Epson color printer was purchased in 2010) by saying that Epson was unable to repair it. I would have had to ship it about a hundred miles within my state with the hope of repair. For the price I paid Amazon.com, which was about $20.00 or so less than I would have paid The Epson Store, I figured I would be better off emotionally to pay Amazon.com with free shipping by Prime. It has a built-in scanner, which is nice and may be easier to use, if I ever do, than the separate one that I have that I never used.RobertJacksonville, Florida

This epson has a way to fix a paper jam
Didnt have this printer long before the printer jammed and was able to fix it in just a few seconds. It has not jammed since. I like this epson also because its small and fits where I want it to be. Its performance is what printing does the job I expect it to do. This is my 3rd epson. I am having difficulty with the scanner . Once I saved one of my pictures I could not get it to enlarge to the size I want. It may not be the scanners but the process I am using to attain the picture size. I am still familarizing myself with the printer

What a piece of Junk –
It is discontinued now, but they have a XP 6100 – mine is a XP 5100il – I bought this printer to use with my computer because every once in a while I need to print something out. Like right now!! This printer prints well when it works. But it rarely works and it uses tons of ink. I bought it in September of 2020 and I am tossing it out the window now – I found out that if it is out of ink it gives the message “not connected” – and that’s for the black ink! And yes Epson ink is hard to find! I was surprised because of course, they say you must use it. Really stupid. So I decided I need to buy a printer from a store so I can return the thing if it is a pile of worthless plastic. I have spent hours trying to get it to print – trouble shooting etc and if you go to online help they want to charge you a dollar for each help request. And I won’t pay – If I buy something it should work – or have directions in the little book that comes with it which it doesn’t. It is not user friendly.

Meh it’s ok
Purchased in March 2022, by June of 2023 it’s become a pain in the a–.Pros: you can email the printer from anywhere and it’ll print.Cons:1. App connection: cannot for the life of us figure out how to make the app work – trying to connect, even typing in the server name, has never worked no matter how many updates or resets.2. Color quality: after a year or so, even with full ink cartridges, if you try to print anything but black the colors are all wonky. the grey has a red/magenta color and looks terrible.3. Time to print: recently, it takes 5-15 MINUTES to print ONE page. ONE! There is no firmware update to do, and I’ve reset to factory settings already. Very frustrated with this printer.

The good:- Very small in size.- Low price for the feature set- Good quality document scanningThe not so good:- Print quality could be better- Speed is just acceptable- Small print yieldsThe best things about the XP-5100 are that it’s a very fully featured for the cost and particularly for it’s diminutive size. It’s easily the smallest multi-function inkjet with a flatbed scanner and automatic duplex printing that I’ve personally ever used. We usually keep our printers hidden in the basement, because they tend to be large eyesores that would take up too much space on our work areas elsewhere in the house but this printer fits on a smallish desk with a laptop without being completely overbearing.I’ve put it through the paces and although I think it does a pretty fair job in most respects, the size and cost does present it with some limitations. To get straight to the point, I haven’t been thrilled with the print quality. Granted, I am usually using much more expensive inkjets and lasers than this model so I don’t want to give the impression that it’s awful but to call it like it is I have to say that the output is definitely on the dull side with fairly muted colours that present some definitely noticeable colour gradients particularly when the colours are being mixed. Black is more of a dark grey to my eye. Now, this would probably be improved a lot if using specialty inkjet paper rather than basic (but not too lightweight), middle of the road plain white paper, but I definitely get better results from the same paper on other (more expensive, and larger, though not something like 5 times more expensive). I’ll use this for printing out documents which don’t need to look extremely professional, random temporary documents that I just need information on, or things for the kids but I think it falls short for anything serious.Print speed is OK for the jobs a printer like this would be expected to do, you’ll get a few pages of typical mixed text/graphics out of it in a perfectly reasonable amount of time but it’s not suited to large print jobs in the first place because the cartridge yields are pretty low (they’re very small). I would not count on this printer as a photo printer as I don’t think the ink yields will make this anywhere near economical for that purpose.Scanning performance is actually very good, if not winning any speed awards, the results are true to colour and pick up the sharpness of the original document well even when using the default fairly low dpi setting which gets the job done fairly quickly. When maxing out the scanner DPI it can take ages for a single page to complete so I don’t think I would ever use it for scans that I would want at higher than around 200-300 dpi.I kept trying to touch the LCD while using and setting it up, but it’s not a touch screen on this model. Still the menus are straight forward and it’s not difficult to use in any sense. It guides you through everything and there really is hardly any need to reference a manual to use it.This printer is a good choice for low volume home users who may need to print a few pages here and there but aren’t going to printing a lot. The small cartridge yields ensure you won’t be wasting ink as you’ll likely be able to exhaust them even if you’re not printing a lot, but it does translate into slightly higher printing costs in the end. You can get a full set of standard capacity cartridges around $60 but assuming you’re printing evenly from each cartridge this will net you fewer than 200 pages per set. If you print more than infrequently and don’t mind a larger printer I think you might want to look at the WorkForce line instead but if space and sleekness are issues for you and you know that it’s going to take you a long time to get through 150-200 pages and aren’t super picky about print quality then I think it’s hard to go wrong with this model.
