Better than some other brands, not a real air conditioner
I tested this against my Arctic Air Pure Chill 2.0 and the cooling affect on the Caynel Air Cooler was noticeably stronger, the Arctic Air technically had better cooling but it was only in a very specific spot on the top right of the fan’s air outlet. The Caynel’s air outlet temperature was the same across the whole air outlet. The Caynel also feel more sturdy than the cheap plastic on the Arctic Air. Lastly, the Caynel also comes with optional aa batteries that can make this even more portable than it already is. Both of these are NOT portable ACs, but they are actually mini swamp coolers, this means that the humidity needs to be UNDER 40% for ideal performance, and even then it will only cool you by around 10 degrees lower than ambient.

Ok!!
It doesn’t put off a lot of air, and it’s not really cold. The battery last for a few hours.

Good for the size.
This is a small cooler. It’s definitely made for a small room or where the cooler will be pretty close to you and really just for you. It’s doubtful it’ll cool a room larger than 100 square feet, if we’re going to be honest. So don’t expect this to cool a large front room or something off.It has a decent sized water tank on it, but if you plan on running it for more than 3 hours, you’ll be refilling it quite a bit. This is powered by USB, but it also has a place to put batteries. I personally wouldn’t use batteries, as I feel they would run out quickly.

It’s loud, it leaks, and it’s not an air conditioner
In reading the description, I knew this was an evaporative cooler, not a portable air conditioner but the title is misleading. The design is flawed as the bottom piece of gray plastic is not well sealed and began to leak right away (zoom in on second pic). It’s a small leak, but adds up. The internal filter is supposed to wick up the water and the fan blows over that to cool the air. But because it leaks, you can only really use this as a portable fan. And for that, it works like any fan, hence the two stars for that functionality and the (hopefully) HEPA air filter. But even if it didn’t leak, you have to be careful to drain any water through the drain plug at the bottom and fill it up carefully due to the fan electronics sharing the same space (with little separation, see pic #3). There are two fan speeds: low and high. The unit is too loud for me in an office while on phone calls or video conferencing, but will otherwise serve its purpose. Please know this product is shipped with the older USB-A cord with no outlet brick, so make sure you still have one laying around to make this fan work.

Helps with my night sweats!
This unit is well made. It’s not what you would consider your average air conditioner. It does not cool a room, not even a small one. This is meant to be used within close proximity of an individual. It’s a basic concept of air blowing through or over water. In Chicago we call this a “lake effect”. Just add water at the top of the unit, don’t go past the MAX line(you can drain the water from the bottom if need be). Wait at least 3 minutes for the filter to absorb some water and turn it on. You can set the fan speed to low or high. It does blow out cold air, however you need to have it fairly close to you. I put mine on my nightstand and use it when sleeping. It really helps with my night sweats. It’s very compact and has a handle for carrying. It’s pretty lightweight, even when filled with water. It operates with the included USB plug or 4 AA batteries. Nice personal cooling fan!

Cheap execution
Everything about it feels cheap, the plastic is thin, cable is short, and the fan is loud, but if you use ice water, it does work ish. Problem with something like this is it does also spike the humidity which means it’s not exactly comfortable to run it overnight. Better off just getting a neck fan.

Great little cooler for its size. Realistic expectations is important!
Not sure why its called a portable air conditioner – because it’s not quite that. This thing does not have a compressor. It’s more like a evaporative cooler/swamp cooler – but in a miniature version. How this machine works is that it’s a fan that converts water to air output, causing the temperature of the air to drop somewhat, creating a “cooling” effect. It’s the same feeling as if you’ve wet your face and stepped into a breeze. What’s cool is that this is compact, AND runs off a USB power bank or port. Note that due to the way the machine works, it sorta acts like a humidifier as well, since it adds moisture to the area around you.

Definitely a personal cooling machine
I have seen similar items advertised on television, thought I’d see what it could do in our desert heat. The concept is simple, it’s what we used to call a swamp cooler, the air blows through wet sponges and it cools the air down by a few degrees. This one works the same way, and yes, it does work. The fans don’t blow the air out in a strong stream, but if you have it close enough you can feel the cool air. It’s not silent, but once it’s running the noise isn’t too distracting. My only complaint is with the battery power – it didn’t even make it through one afternoon. If you want it to work for any length of time you’ll need to plug it in, worth it for a few degrees of cool!
