Has everything I need – short term review
The good:- copying, pretty fast printing, duplex (double-sided) printing (great!), back feed paper (cardstock – see note), front feed paper (my preferred),- USB connectivity (*), wifi connectivity (haven’t used yet),- some nice settings like auto-on and auto-off, “quiet mode”- I like that the display panel can be angled upward.- I like how everything can fold in to be compact.- I like the remaining ink estimator available from the menu.Things to note:- Cardstock – When you select “cardstock” in the printer options on the computer before you print a document, the printer will require you to use the back paper feeder. I don’t like that, due to space limitations, so I simply tell it to use regular paper but load the front tray with ~90lb cardstock. That cardstock feels pretty thick but the printer handles it just fine from the front paper tray!- USB – cable NOT included, but it’s a standard USB A to B cable I believe – looks like a D shape, pretty standard for the printers I’m used to- auto on/off – I have both enabled, auto-off set to 15min – it’s fast to start up from the “off” state- Quiet mode – seems to slow it down by 30-50% perhaps, depending on duplex vs single-sided. It is a decent bit quieter but I am fine with regular mode for faster printing.- Duplex printing is cool to watch, this is the first printer I’ve had which does it. After it prints the page, it pulls it back in to print the other side, a bit slower than the first side.- make sure the landing tray is pulled out before printing or it could jam the printer! Some of my paper jams were a bit hard to clear but it’s nothing to worry about, just gotta open it up and slowly but firmly pull out the paper.- The starter ink packs have lasted me a decent while, maybe I’ve printed 100 pages of mostly black/white? The gauge says about 50% black and maybe 70% color remaining. I guess they are lasting longer than I originally expected, but I went ahead and ordered another pack of ink cartridges, this time the XL versions. What I wish it would have:- direct ethernet connectivity would be nice; I try to have everything hard-wired so for now it’s only set up with USB to my main computer. But for the price and the features included, I can’t complain. Conclusion:I don’t plan on printing a ton, but I’ve wanted to get a printer so I can print when I want/need to. I think this printer will be the last printer I buy for a long while. Great for the average Joe!

    Great value for low workloads.
Edit: Still going strong. No issues. I have no idea what the negative reviewers are experiencing, but it almost is assuredly user error of some sort with network, gear, or user control. This thing prints from Wi-Fi flawlessly in a basement setting from 6 feet away in my case, and it prints fairly fast without issue.Inkjets are expensive if you use a lot of ink. This is not a laser printer, and you should not expect to be doing loads of printing for anything on it.For printing photos, it actually has very decent quality, yet this one will use ink at a fast rate like most inkjets. I use this for shipping labels and occasional documents. Almost no photo printing at all. For those who print only sporadically, it’s a perfect option.Compared to my last Canon, this one is more compact, easy to setup, Wi-Fi works flawlessly, and setup was basically one and done. I don’t understand the issues people are having, but it most likely comes down to your network and lack of expertise.I manually posted my password on first boot, and even though I mostly have Wi-Fi disabled, when I turn it on with the printer, it works and prints without issue; no need to input password again or waste time finding a device. I never had even the slightest issue after password input. It’s definitely not super high quality, but it also doesn’t have a bunch of stuff I don’t need. I like the lack of glossy plastic as well. This thing will fit almost anywhere, and for what it is looks nice and blends in well. We’ll see how long the power supply lasts.Scanning works well, though, you will notice it is a little louder than some models. Printing has so far gone as well as before with a more expensive inkjet that died, and this doesn’t seem to use ridiculous amounts of ink when on the lowest ink usage settings. Still, the unit will definitely cost you if you print a lot. I always recommend a laser printer for people printing over 20 documents a month. No exceptions. Otherwise, you will be paying out the wazoo for ink on this thing, despite only having two cartridges.Overall, Canon has done about all they can do for a compact inkjet. There isn’t much else to do for printers. You won’t be getting any major improvements over the years. This is about as small and efficient as it’s going to get, and even at that I barely notice the differences from ten years ago. Software is minimal and not invasive if all you want is drivers. I put the services in Win 10 on manual, and there isn’t anything else going on outside a scanner tool for my setup. With my needs this is a nice model so far. I hope it lasts.

    Poorish Quality Control by Canon
The Canon PIXMA TS6420a All-in-One Wireless Inkjet Printer arrived in an unopened Canon Box.The Good: The printer prints flawlessly via wireless Wifi and makes perfect copies. The Canon Setup Software installed OK on my old Dell Laptop running Windows 10. The CSS got my old Dell to wirelessly connect and print on the Canon PIXMA TS6420a . The Bad: The rear paper feed tray was seemingly “sprung” (was on crooked and would not fully close). The CSS had to be manually downloaded from the Canon Website. No CD Disc included.More Bad: The CSS would not install on my newer Dell laptop running Windows 11. Worse: The ill-fitting Canon case blocked a printer cable from the new Dell from being inserted. Result: I returned the Canon PIXMA TS6420a, to Amazon.UPDATE: A simple adjustment allowed the printer data cable to be inserted. That allowed my Dell Wildows 11 laptop to print via the cable and my Dell Windows 10 laptop to print via WiFi. Because the print quality was so remarkably good I decided to keeo the Canon PIXMA TS6420a All-in-One Wireless Inkjet Printer
