Printer does it all …easily
First of all a great seller. Shipped early so I would receive before departing on a trip. Then followed up to make sure I received the printer. The printer is great. Quality of print on the same cheap paper is very noticeable. The ink usage is not showing after days of hard use which is a surprise as starter ink cartridges for another major brand is on the high side. Setup is way too easy. A small brochure … follow the directions and it is supporting the entire wired network in 15 minutes. Changed to wireless later and that took all of 2 minutes. Changed back to wired … 30 seconds. Have not set up as a dedicated fax even tho the directions are included with a phone cord. Had no intentions as I use eFax which travels with me.A major plus for me is in a matter of seconds you can change and register different paper in each tray. Letterhead in one, plain paper in another, or 8×10 photo in one. Many options and combinations. The plain paper photos come out better than from the other brand on photo paper. On photo paper pictures are outstanding. Speeds are great and it seems quieter than what it replaced which was a relatively new, dual tray printer costing about the same amount. It scans double sided without intervention. I had 45 pages of double-sided paper to scan on. Placed it in the tray and it pulled page by page on, flipping each over to get the back side. Nice. I found time for another project. Also, prints double-sided by flipping each page over. Faster than brand X. Smaller footprint and less weight but better results. Great buy.

3-4 Month Printer – Flakey and Frustrating
This printer worked well out of the box: high quality prints, reasonably fast, easy to install and use. After 3-4 weeks the scan to computer stopped working. We tried to figure out how to fix but eventually quit since it’s not too big a deal to use a USB drive and transfer the scans that way. After 4 months the printer started jamming regularly and when we unjammed a white piece fell out of the back. We haven’t been able to figure out how to put it back in and can’t get anyone from Canon to help us. The printer continues to jam so we can’t use it for printing anymore. We’re going to toss it and buy a new one. Very frustrating experience both with Amazon (who was the seller) for not allowing us to return it and with Canon for a flakey product with impenetrable support.

Poor envelope printing & poor scanning
This printer was purchased as a replacement for a Canon MX892 wireless printer. The MX892 was a great printer while it worked. Unfortunately, it died after around 2 years of use and would not power on (seems to be a common complaint in the Canon forums about the MX892). I looked at several replacement options but decided to go with the Maxify MB5320 since I was already familiar with Canon and the price seemed significantly cheaper than the other options I was considering. Unfortunately, purchasing this printer was a mistake and if I could do it over again I would purchase one of the other non-Canon options.PRINTING:This printer takes a while to warm up, significantly longer than the MX892. If the printer isn’t already warm, it will take at least a minute and a half for the printer to warm up. I never turn the printer off but it does seem to go to sleep after some period of time. The warm up time is really not that big a deal for me but could be for others. As far as print quality goes, standard paper printing is as good as expected on the standard quality setting. Like the MX892, duplex printing works well as does the ADF (Auto Document Feeder). The print speed seems (not factoring in the warm up time) a bit faster than the MX892. I haven’t tried to print photos with this printer so I can’t comment on the photo printing capabilities. As another reviewer (CFL) mentioned, this printer has some issues printing on envelopes. In particular, it adds extra spaces (margin) to the return address section of the envelope. See the aforementioned reviewer’s comments on working around this issue. This was never a problem on the MX892. In fact, the MX892 was a great envelope printer. If you do a lot of envelope printing you’ll want to look for a different printer.COPYING:I have no complaints about the copy function. It works well and is pretty fast. If the printer is warmed up, it can scan and then print a single-sided document in about 10 seconds. Of all the functions, this is the one where I’ve had absolutely no problems. Most of the time, I only need to copy a single document and use the scan bed.SCANNING:You would think that a good copier is also a good scanner but that is not the case here. I use the scanning function quite a bit and I can tell you that the scanner on the MX892 is far superior to the scanner on the MB5320. I never had any scanning issues with the MX892. The MB5320 on the other hand has trouble scanning simple documents, especially when using the ADF. I usually have to check over the scanned documents and if I see a problem, I rescan the page without using the ADF. Unfortunately this happens frequently so I usually avoid the ADF for scanning. There have been a few times I didn’t pay close attention to the poor scan job and ended up being asked to send a legible copy of the same document. Looking at the specifications for both the MX892 and MB5320, the MB5320 has a scanner with a much lower optical resolution. If you do a lot of scanning and expect high quality (or better than average quality), this is not the printer you want.CARTRIDGE LIFE:The datasheet for this printer says the XL ink tanks are supposed to allow you to print more pages before you need a refill. I’ve had the printer for 8 months and it looks like all the tanks are at about the 50% mark. That’s better than the MX892 but probably not by a whole lot.SETUP:The installation & setup of this printer was very easy, better than the MX892. I’ve had no wireless issues and have multiple computers/devices using the various features of this printer. The touch screen on the printer works pretty well and the menu is easy to navigate. In summary, I suggest avoiding this printer. Some of the key office functions don’t work well (especially scanning & envelope printing).
