Outstanding scanner!
I purchased this scanner to save my receipts. It dose an excellent job and copies both sides at the same time. It also automatically will straighten a crooked scan and will automatically rotate the image upright if it is upside down, if you choose that option when you set it up. The one thing I was disappointed in was if the receipt is over 11″ long the scanner thinks there is a jam. Simple solution just fold the receipt over on itself and the scanner will automatically scan both sides and correct the text being upside down.I have owned a lot of Epson & HP printers and always had trouble with them. I purchased a Canon Printer 20 years ago and I have never had an issue, So, I decided that I would try this Canon scanner. I have not been disappointed. the software is very intuitive and easy to set up. If you need a portable scanner or a scanner that does not take up a lot of space, buy this one!

return label for the bad unit. Since then
I bought this to scan five years worth of all kinds of banking and other statements in preparation for my 92 year-old mother’s Medicaid application. Well, the scanner didn’t work (out of the box) so I called Canon. Actually got a very able tech on the phone almost immediately. After about 10-15 minutes of walking me through his tech-check routines, he determined that the scanner was defective. He said he would “overnight” me a new replacement. It actually arrived the next afternoon, with a prepaid, return label for the bad unit. Since then, the replacement scanner has worked flawlessly. I have scanned several hundred pages with little effort. Scans both sides of the page (very handy for bank statements). If you have both single side and double side pages to scan, you need to set it for “duplex” (double) and scan them all, then go back and delete the blank pages before you close that particular file. You cannot re-open a file and add pages, so you need to do a little planning. But, I have a feeling that’s kind of universal. Directions say you can feed as many as 20 pages at a time, but I have kept to ten, but that’s me. I was able to scan hundreds of pages and then print them out with my laser printer in a fraction of the time it would have taken to stand at the copy machine and crank them out. And, I have digital copies that I can pull up quickly in case I need to provide back-ups (not unusual when dealing with an outfit like Medicaid). The only caveat is that the paper needs to be flattened to feed properly. So, if you have separated, stapled pages, make sure the staple holes have been flattened out or the pages will drag each other through. By the same token, pages that have been stored in a folded position (ie: inside an envelope for three years) will also tend to drag each other into the feeder. But, those problems would apply to pretty much any sheet-feeding device. I have also scanned a few professional journal articles without any problems.Bottom line: This little scanner is awesome. Canon support was awesome. Hope I haven’t just jinxed myself. I highly recommend this scanner.

Simple, plug-and-play, multipage, duplex, mobile scanner.
So far it’s easy to use, requires no software set-up (at least on Mac), scans both sides of the a document at once, unless it’s blank page (automatic), can scan multiple pages via its document feed, will straighten the image of a crooked document (automatic), it’s compact (pretty small footprint), and the quality of the scan is certainly fine for document scanning. I am satisfied with the scan speed as long I’m just doing a few documents at a time. I would scan a book with the copier at the office. For all these features it was substantially cheaper than its competitors. Some reviewers have complained about its lack of compatibility with Mac printing interface and TWAIN software. The scanner will not appear in the Mac’s printer & scanner control panel window. I am running it off Catalina and Mojave OS, and its a bit of a pain for sure (I am so used to the lack of compatible printer software), but the fact is the scanner own standalone software works beautifully as far I can tell, so as a personal device, I don’t find I miss much that it’s not recognized by the Mac OS. TWAIN is an old scanning common protocol that is useful today if you require scanning on a network – not really the prime objective of a portable scanner. If you need that capability on the fly, then this scanner is probably not for you, but I would not harshly criticize the scanner for not being designed for that use. So far I scan to one Mac (say my Macbook) and I Airdrop the scan (pdf) to another computer (e.g. my iMac) if I need to share it.

Canon P-215II document scanner works well for light-weight jobs
The Canon P-215II scanner works well for light-weight jobs. It is compact and versatile. The double-sided feature is handy and a time-saver. I initially connected the scanner’s two USB cables to a 2.0 hub but that did not work. I then connected the cables to two 2.0 USB ports on my PC and it worked fine. The software interface is fairly straightforward but the instructions are rather poor. I found I had to just try various setting in the interface to get the results I wanted. On a side note, the first unit I received was defective. Everything seemed to work OK except the feed motor in the unit would work intermittently so that documents may or may not feed through when “SCAN” was clicked on the interface screen. I worked with Canon technical assistance for about an hour and the tech determined it should be replaced. Canon shipped a new unit and I received it the next day with a return label enclosed. I returned the defective unit in the same box.

Enjoyed using the scanner. The unit’s size is deceiving as it works perfectly. A little finicky when scanning multiple pages at the same time. You need to ensure to slightly separate the pages when feeding into the input tray.
