Great reliable and versatile printer
I purchased this back in 2021. I now use off brand ink cartridges and the quality is just as good if not better than the Brother brand ink. I haven’t had any issues at all, no issues with the quality of text or WiFi connection. The app is a little dated but it’s operable for my needs. Just wanted to say thanks. I hope for another 3 years of printing!

Great printer!
I was a little hesitant to purchase a “refurbished“ printer because I was worried it wouldn’t work properly and may have damage to it. It arrived in perfect condition and the hook up couldn’t have been easier. The printer works flawlessly and so far everything I’ve printed looks great! No ink smear, no alignment issues and everything works as it should. Great price too. If you’re on the fence, save yourself a few bucks and buy one refurbished. Well worth it!

Good quality for the price
We purchased this multi function printer for our new home as we just retired. We had the“491” model in our office of our last job so we were familiar with how it functioned. It’s a good sturdy machine for a good price. It was delivered quickly & was an easy set-up. I was a bit caught off guard by the “Refurbished” sticker on the box, but we will be running a test before the ‘return by’ date. I have had brother brand multi function printers in the past that have lasted over 10 years so the brand choice was a no brainer for me.

So far so good. It was quick and easy to set up, and works well so far with my limited use. The drivers loaded automatically on my PC when I plugged it in. Also easy to set up with wifi and with phone app. You just have to be connected to the same local wifi on the printer and on the phone or computer. The real test will be whether the generic ink I bought is able to be used without the printer’s software blocking it. Haven’t had to change the ink yet. I selected the option of not automatically updating the software, so that should help.

Sadly, just an expensive piece of garbage
My 13 yo daughter saved up to buy a printer for her sticker business. She spent a good chunk of money on this refurbished printer. It came on time. But, won’t print in color. At first it would print really muted greys with lines all throughout it. We put it through multiple cleaning cycles. We tried changing the ink (not once, but twice, name brand Brother ink cartridges)…We asked the people at the ink store if this happens and they said refurbished items are VERY hit or miss. I’m of course now realizing there is no way to salvage this printer and we are past our return date on it. Super bummed for my daughter, expensive lesson learned on our part. Amazon is seemingly ellusive, can’t find a contact number for the seller or Amazon customer service. Frustrated.

Great Deal!!
I’d advise ANYONE looking to get a GREAT printer to look at Amazon’s refurbished line! If not for the decal on the box, I’d have NEVER known that this was a refurbished printer!! Seriously. There isn’t a single mark or blemish on it, and it’s packed just like a new one would be, even comes in a Brother box. Going this route saved me at LEAST 50%, AND you get every single piece of paperwork you would if it was brand new, AND a full 1 year warranty! Got a complete set of ink cartridges too!! I am MORE than pleased with this purchase!!!

Easiest setup ever
This item was purchased as “refurbished” and came packaged like new with all documentation, cables, disk and all the ink cartridges. I unboxed it, removed packing tape and this orange plastic guide from inside the ink well then installed all ink cartridges, added plain paper and powered on. I connected printer to my home wifi from the printer display/touch panel. Connection was successful. On my Mac I went into Apple Preferences then Printers and Scanners icon. I clicked the “+” sign to add the printer. A new window will open and the Brother printer appeared on the list, and I just clicked Add. Printing is fast. I now have 2 Brother printers and just love them.
