Inspect for fakes before return window closes
Let me start off by saying that my purchase was both sold and shipped by Amazon, not a third party.When I received my package of ink, I quickly set it aside until a few months later when I needed it, long after the return window had already closed. As I put the first cartridge in my printer, it read as being completely empty! That’s when it dawned on me, that orange plug thingy they always put on each cartridge to prevent the ink from drying up was not there. The second cartridge was exactly the same. I took a picture of the third cartridge, which is fully sealed in the plastic, as you can see. It mentions the orange plug is “No longer supplied due to a design change.”On the box itself, there is a holographic QR code, which when I scanned it, it took me to the Brother website, and confirmed it as genuine. Well, I have my doubts about that. All that proves is the sticker or box is genuine, not necessarily that the 3 cartridges inside are as well. Each ink cartridge also contains a QR code, but surprise surprise, when I try to scan those, it literally won’t even scan.I’m not sure what happened here. Maybe a scammer bought it, replaced the contents inside, and returned it. But my advice to all is, when you buy this, even if you don’t need the ink right away, inspect the packaging carefully. Because apparently the scammers are getting really good at this.

As usual the Amazon Prime shipping was right on received it in two days on a Saturday I believe February 19th maybe.Replace the yellow and blue because they were actually low and put the magenta in the drawer below my printer where I never ever go in unlessI want ink.Today Sunday April 7th 4 a.m. eastern standard time went to print out my taxes, lo and behold it won’t print anything because the magenta is low so I open the printer drawer below it and take out the package unopened, mine you, unopened. The package had a reddish Hue to it I didn’t think much of it I thought it was the packaging, pretty packaging. I exam it closer and that reddish Hue was the ink. Then the silent rage begin simmering inside me slowly but surely I knew it would rise high enough to ruin my Sunday morning. This hermetically sealed package actually sprung a leak, no! not the package! let me correct myself ,the ink cartridge sprung a leak!Sitting all by its Lonesome in a drawer that is never ever opened unless there is a need to replace an ink cartridge. Went to start a return then I noticed Amazon at least on this particular product, if not all maybe some, I have no idea, has a return cut off date which is I think around 30 days after receipt of the product. My cutoff date was approximately March 19th. As any half educated human being on this planet can attest to, when you buy cartridges in a pack like this you don’t always HAVE to replace all three both of them or whatever size package it was certain ones need replaced they don’t all go dry at the same time that is why this magenta sealed package sat in a lonesome little drawer for this long a time ,it wasn’t needed until now and it was unusable because of the cartridge leaked.
