    Good print
The book was legible, easy to read and understand with clarity. A great investment for your library. Enjoy!!!

Just the supplement, not the whole thing
Even though the cover says differently, the insides are just the supplement to the first edition

  3. Customer Problem

    Small print poorly formatted
Beware. You will be charged $7 to return this if, like me, you’re disappointed by it.There are better alternatives out there. Pass on this one.

Well designed etymological dictionary including the Greek
Brilliant dictionary including the original Latin and Greek (using Greek alphabet, yay!) roots of English words. Makes many suprising connections. This is a larger version of the Collins Concise etymological dictionary, I believe. Large but not impossible. Sturdy even as a paperback, and easy to read considering the number of words in this. Well organized graphic design, too.

    The Standard
The Skeat etymological dictionary is the standard work for the English language. There simply is no substitute.

No coincide la compra con lo que se esperaba, supuestamente según la descripción se vendía el diccionario completo, y resultó ser solo el anexo.

This kindle edition has good layout with cross reference hyperlinks but real problem is absence of way to navigate a certain word.I have lessened this problem by highlighting alphabets A B C…..to….Z and reached through my notes section but again the problem of sliding pages to reach onto a word in a individual alphabets. If you follow this steps then this product is purchasable.

Reviewers complaining about lack of index and ‘swiping forever’ should note that Kindle’s electronic search does away with all that! In fact the electronic search is far more useful than the usual index.. This volume is then quite a bargain!

If you regularly ask yourself, why words are what and how they are, than an etymological dictionary is what you want.Especially if you want this information to be independent of online status. The only downside of this kindle edition is, that it has no alphabetical browsing function. Working with a dictionary is rather tedious this way. A bound copy would be advisable, if you wish to seriously work with this dictionary. I use it sporadically and mostly while underway, so the kindle version is the one for me.

ATTENTION : contrairement au titre et à ce que montre l’option “Feuilleter” (à savoir le dictionnaire étymologique lui-même), ce volume ne correspond en réalité qu’à la section des ERRATA et ADDENDA !
