    The review for Walmart OGP/Stockers
Seldom do I review much of anything I buy from this site, but given there’s not a lot of information about my specific use case for this, I’d figure I’d leave one for anyone that happens to be curious and is in a similar position.Context: I’m an overnight Walmart Team Associate, five nights a week, and I stock shelves all night long. A majority of my nights are spend in the Frozen food isles stocking there and creating inventory tags for the product. (Vizpick Label if you’re familiar with the terminology.) We recently had been shipped Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro phones to replace the old TC70 and ect, handheld devices we use to find items, print labels, price changes, and so on. This was company wide, btw. The old devices had a barcode scanner built into it, but these new devices don’t. While it’s possible to use the camera, it’s often a pain depending on the lighting, the focus, the item itself, just slower overall. Most of the workers are obviously annoyed at this, and there’s no plans to send any scanners with the phones as far as I know. There’s an argument to be made about workers having to purchase this kind of stuff, that the company should be paying for this, but this review isn’t about that. I had cashback stacked on my Prime rewards card so I hardly paid for this. If you’re looking for something for a very similar use case, or work at Walmart in a similar position, and don’t care dropping the $35 for a scanner, read on.The scanner itself is obviously not top-tier engineering, cheap plastic, could use some grip for the handle. Kind of bulky, but I have a tool holster and it fit in the widest hook pretty well. The button has maybe 2MM of travel before it clicks, but it’s not bad. Got some weight to it, not as much as the hand-scanners at the registers. On the bottom is where the USB dongle is stored, but there’s no cover for it. I just left it in the box. The USB cable plugs into the bottom as well, uses a big ‘printer cable’ USB port. I’m unsure if you can use the cable for a printer, and probably would have tested it if I had one. Also, the USB port is exposed. While the port itself is about half an inch deep, I wouldn’t be surprised if it died because some liquid got into there. Be mindful of that. The light on top has at least 3(?) colors. When you initially plug it in to charge, it’ll probably be orange, but turns to green when it’s completely full. Pressing the button once wakes it up. Assuming you’re using the bluetooth, it’ll sync to your phone the same as pulling out any wireless earbuds. But sometimes it takes a moment, it’s been as short as 5 seconds, but sometimes takes 15-20. Not sure why, as there’s no other devices paired to the phone.Once it’s on and connected, the light turns blue, and that’s it. It handles the barcodes by acting like a bluetooth keyboard. When you scan a barcode, it types it out, then presses enter. I haven’t read through the manual to see if it can be tweaked, but for the most part is consistent. Sometimes it can scan only half of the barcode, so be sure the red line light is picking up the whole barcode. Also, time to bring up the manual. Somewhat not as bad broken English, if you’re tech savvy and have comprehended my review up to this point, it’s not hard to set up. To change any of it’s settings, (Sleep time, bluetooth mode, ect,) it has a series of barcodes that you scan to set those settings. It’s strange, but given it only has one button, I don’t know how else it could have been done without a computer. (Maybe a dedicated BT button?) All you really do is scan a barcode that puts it into bluetooth pairing mode, and have your phone pair it like any other bluetooth device, didn’t take long and was ready to go in only a minute. So, for the Walmart workers that know about the new phones and how handling inventory works, well, it’s more consistent than the camera. Assuming you’re in the Me@Walmart app and in the shelf availability menu, you just hit the search icon, then scan. It types it in and hits enter. Given I had the phone a week before getting the scanner, I can say for me it’s been a lot more faster and consistent. If I’m printing vizpick labels for overstock, after I hit print, I hit the search again so I’m ready to scan another item immediately after. It’s held up well in other departments from pets to automotive, from garden to housewares. For OGP, I’m not too familiar with, and they haven’t taken away all of our old devices for OGP (yet,) but every OGP associate that uses a phone has told me it’d be better given the sleep time for the scanner could be set to up to 30 minutes. I should also mention the manual has a barcode to turn it off manually, might have to print it out with some online barcode creator, or a good picture on your phone. As far as battery life goes, sleep mode being 1 minute and using it at least 2 hours a day roughly, it’s lasted 10 days over 2 weeks of work. I did notice it drained the phone’s batter a bit more, but I charge it when I wake up before work anyway, so it’s never been a big issue.Durability, still unsure of. I did drop it once from about 3 1/2 feet, onto concrete, and didn’t have or see any issues. Dunno about the next fall, but will update it when it does fall and break.—Overall, it’s been pretty good. My main issues are the cheap plastic possibly falling apart on a really bad fall, the exposed USB charging port at the bottom, and the scanner only picking up part of the barcode. But otherwise, it’s been consistent, faster, and the night I walked into work with it, I felt like the cool kid at school that got a Gameboy for his birthday, and everyone was asking to try it out and in envy that I have a scanner with a decent handle.I’ll update this review if anything comes up, but overall, if you’re a Walmart worker looking for a cheap scanner for freight, labels, and tagging stuff, this is a good option if you can get over it being slightly bulky.

An UPDATE: It’s been over 6 months now in a warehouse environment
We have purchased several of these for use in a warehouse environment – they work great but have one flaw, which may have been addresses on newer models. The USB cable connection on the back/bottom of the unit, used for charging and connection to a computer is not good IF YOU’RE NOT CAREFUL. I believe these types of connectors, called micro B connectors, give everyone a bit of a problem but if you’re careful, they work fine – but in a production environment like ours, you get all sorts of people and so we have our peeps bring their scanners to a central location for charging over the weekend and one of two people are allowed to plug them in for charging. Out of 8 scanners we have, only one has been damaged due to poor handling upon plugging in the cable and two others have had minor issues. Other than that, the scanners are really good! The battery life is really long, the scanners are fast, accurate and their range is impressive. The range covers our entire 15,000 sq ft facility even through walls. Plus, so far none have broken from a fall. We plan to purchase more of these units but with a USB B connector instead, which our last most recent Netum NT-1228BC scanner came with.

    Works great with various apps!
Being a book dragon, I have way too many books to put into both Goodreads and StoryGraph. This scanner is a game changer! I click it on, turn on Bluetooth, let it connect, and off ai go! It saves me so much time. Now I don’t have to type in every title.Every once in a while it will either show no bar code, or show a book that is not even close to the one I scanned…but that’s no big deal.I should have bought one of these years ago. Well worth it.

    Easy to use
Great little hand held scanners for day to day use. They get the job done if you do not have to do any long range scanning. The only thing I would change is make them a little more durable. Ours take a lot of abuse and seem to break a lot. Especially the inside guts come loose.

Worked great for a month or so
Update: 7/1/19 Well it worked for about 60 days before completely shutting down. Unit seems to charge but stopped working. No matter how close I am to the barcode it doesn’t scan or read it. Laser (or whatever reads the barcode) skips is the only word I can use to explain it. It will turn on and I’ll pull the trigger and the laser turns and shuts off immediately. Unit was never dropped I keep it in a nylon holster and charge it every night. Seems like when I was using it 500 times a day in the begining to set up the Excel sheets it worked great. Lately I have only needed to use it occasionally throughout the day and it refuses to work. Hopefully Amazon tech line can help me out since it’s past the return dateA total lifesaver!I inspect and install life safety equipment for a living and some of the barcodes are impossible to read manually. I purchased this thinking it would save me a little bit of extra time and it has now become the main source of scanning inventory and quality control.Unit connected via Bluetooth to my phone with no problems at all. I use Google sheets it scans in and does line by line without me having to hit enter. Couldn’t be happierAs you can see by my pic a lot of these units are over had and not visibly readable even with my glasses on. Instead of wiping out my cell phone and trying to enlarge the numbers every time I simply scan it and have 100% accuracy.

I purchased this product with Amazon Prime and as expected product came in the next day. Device functions as your should with wired and wireless(Via a 2.4GHZ transmitter included) function. Device build using good quality plastic doesn’t feel “Cheap”, full function included with detailed English instruction menuBut the reason I want to leave a review is due to their responsive customer service. Due to shipping and handling my order arrived with a damaged wireless transmitter, I first contact amazon for support but came to find out we must contact the seller/manufacturer in China, but luckily they printed their contact number on the instruction menu.. so I called them directly think it’s going to be a long process. However, to my surprise phone call was answered immediately by a live person, and within a few sentences describing my issues and without questions asked, they agree to send me a replacement wireless transmitter. And after just 15 mins I receive a reply back from them informing me my replacement has been processed for shipping out the same day.I receive my replacement parts today, logged on just now to cancel my refund request. But I do also want to share my experience and I want to encourage everyone to purchase from them, I had an amazing experience they did a good job!!
