    Priced well, works nicely
There’s a lot to like about this small torch. From the handheld size to the handy controls, this torch has what you need. If I were to complain about anything at all on this torch, it would be the difficulty of using it completely one-handed, as I had originally intended to use it in the first place. Honestly, in many cases you should probably be lighting a torch with both hands anyway, so the lack of a one-handed ignition probably isn’t a really big deal. And it works very well, and is easy to change the size and heat of the flame. Plus, the included heat shields are a nice added bonus as well. All in all, I’d recommend this unit for anyone needing a handheld torch for small jobs.

    Works as expected
As another reviewer mentioned, the black ‘stand’ on this thing doesn’t stay on it, but you barely need it. If you feel it’s important you might be able to secure it better with some adhesive or something. It takes two hands to operate since you have to pull the safety button first, then pull the trigger, then if you want it to stay on with out holding the trigger – you have to set that from the back. But it does provide the flame and it’s adjustable. And if you really wanted to, you could probably bypass the safety mechanism, not that I would endorse doing that. Kind of like bypassing the safety on a lighter back in the day. I really haven’t used this yet so I don’t know how long a charge of butane will last, but I imagine this will be quite handy for anything I want to use it for. I could see it being useful for camping, like lighting campfires and such. I can also see it being useful for soldering and heat shrink tubing. It seems to be built well and the price was right.

Broke within first 10 minutes of use
Was doing fine for a few minutes. Upon trying to turn it back on it wouldn’t light (no gas coming out). Went to fill thinking it was empty of which it was not. Dead in the water. Went to Lowes and bought a benzomatic version of this that worked for hours.

A good torch–not such a good soldering iron.
This is a great little torch. I keep it in my tool bag and use it frequently. It’s excellent for getting a fire off to a quick start, putting a braise on food, sealing the ends of cords, etc. I also use the heat gun attachment frequently for activating heatshrink tubing on spliced electrical wires. The most surprisingly positive thing about this is the burn time–it may not be the advertized 2 hours, but it’s well over an hour, and that’s pretty impressive.I wish I could say the solder iron worked as well as the heat gun or torch, but sadly it’s a little underpowered. You can get it to work, but not as quickly or strongly as one would hope. If you do need to solder with this, you can silver the tip first from a thin strand of solder and then it’ll slowly melt any other solder it touches. Definitely not as good as an electric.

Great torch that does not leak!
I purchased this torch to replace another, slightly less expensive unit from another manufacturer — that one leaked all the butane after only a day or so.I filled this MT-70 with butane in mid-January and used it right away — I needed something to light the wood pellets in my cold smoker tube. I just used it again today, and am very happy to say that it appeared to be just as I left it back in January — it lit up the first time I pulled the trigger and stayed on until the pellets were lit!

This works ok, but is hard to refill
The torch works great, but I am struggling to refill it with the same Butane container I use for my other torches. It seems they do not align well and lots of butane sprays out.

    Works
I got this for mainly heat-shrink on wires . An it works pretty good , handy , an convenient . You have to pay attention an be somewhat fast so you don’t burn the heat- shrink . It’s got a safety button you have to pull to light it , which is a pain , so a pair of pliers an a hard pull an that takes care of that . I had a electric heat gun that I used before but it was to big an hard to zip around the heat-shrink to shrink it . So this was a great replacement . So far happy with purchase .

Does not work well (that is, when it works at all)
For the first few days, the tool worked fine. I used the recommended Master Appliance ultratane fuel since I read that other fuels could foul the system and cause problems. For applications where you need to cover exposed solder joints with heat shrink wrap or where you don’t need high heat (i.e., melting the frayed ends of a nylon cord), this torch works fine. For soldering and high-heat applications, it doesn’t come close to delivering. After using the tool for a few hours, I noticed that the size of the flame had gone down considerably. Also, the wheel that adjusts the size of the flame had all but stopped working. The piezoelectric trigger only works one out of every three or four clicks. I cleaned the tool as per the manufacturer’s instructions to no effect. For all intents and purposes, this is just a really expensive Bic lighter that’s hard to light. The tools that come with the torch are your typical low-quality Chinese garbage. Unless you’re using the dikes to cut small gauge wire, don’t bother removing them from the case. The spring on the needle nose pliers popped out after a few uses and it’s now residing somewhere in the Twilight Zone. The 60/40 solder has a super-high concentration of lead, so don’t use it unless you’re outdoors. Finally, the base attachment comes off way too easy and “only just” keeps the tool from falling over when it’s standing on a table. After careful consideration, the only real pros about this tool are that it’s easy to fill and the plastic carry case is nice enough. The Master ultrane fuel seems to be decent, but it’s a bit on the pricey side.If you’re looking for a butane torch, I suggest you look elsewhere. The only reason I didn’t give this tool one star is because I still get a flame from time to time, and it’s nice to use on wire shrink wrap.
