    Pretty quiet and powerful
I installed this to vent an electric homebrew setup on the second floor of my garage. So far it has worked great, preventing steam and condensation buildup at the start of winter. My garage is gas heated to about 55F and is insulated, but when I brew, even by the open door, I would get condensation on the 2nd floor ceiling. Not anymore with my hood and this fan. I’m currently brewing with a 7 gallon Grainfather system when brewing alone, but will be upgrading to a 20 gallon batch electric system in the next year or two. I’ll update on performance and longevity after the upgrade. I am slightly worried that the added moisture from the larger system may corrode or damage the unit, but it handled the first two brews well and kept everything dry so I am optimistic. It’s not super quiet, but also not load. I’d say in my setup it’s in the mid to high 60s in dB. For the price I am quite happy with it.

Moves a lot of air very quietly for this kind of fan.
Not silent but works great for a kitchen fan. It seems to be intended more for green houses and other lower temperature environments but it is very sturdy and well built. Works well with my range hood variable speed control-much better than I expected. Very solid build quality and should be able to handle heat and moisture well. Since it is an inline fan it would not be recommended for a commercial kitchen as those are best served with a external motor with pulleys and belts and squirrel cage type fans. For my application, it was worth every penny and is much better than the typical fans they sell with the range hoods. Quieter than most range fans but still moves a lot of air. I recommend you always have the kitchen window cracked open 1″ or so, or have a outside air duct to supply replacement air or this fan would certainly pull a vacuum on your house and suck air in through every crack and cranny in your house. Works great to keep the smoke out of the kitchen as I am married to a Asian chef who loves to cook on high temp gas range with stir fry and steamers. With out the fan, the humidity was pure hell on our refrigerator & freezer in the kitchen. This fan eliminated the problem entirely…no more cooking smells permeating the whole house.

Moves lots of air, not very loud at all
This fan is properly named. The air moves out of my attic in waves, the fan is high power. It stays cool. It has some weight so consider how you want to install it. I had to make arrangements because of the weight of the fan. Don’t get me wrong it isn’t very heavy, but it needs a board or mount of some kind. I’m using the fan in the attic to move air while I’m in a tight space and during very hot days. I like this fan, it works good!

I ended up setting it up in my office to determine what “745 CFM” actually felt like. It actually moves quite a bit of air …
I ordered the 8″ Hurricane Fan a few months back to help exhaust some hot air from mining rigs located in my basement. I wasn’t too concerned about trying to get this installed since it was ~30 degrees outside at my house in Ohio. I ended up setting it up in my office to determine what “745 CFM” actually felt like. It actually moves quite a bit of air which I think is more than my 30″ floor fan on high speed. As of today, I have temporarily mounted it directly in front of a small (~20″x~30″) basement window and am pulling the hot 86-90 degree basement air outside. I will check again in a few hours to see if the temp has dropped at all. If it doesn’t drop below 75, in the next 2 days, I will likely purchase one of the 80x48x48 grow tents to place my rigs into and see how it works with this type of setup. Containing and moving all of this heat is a bit of a challenge.I’ll update this review if/when I do so. Pros • Very solid and well built• Fairly quiet on full speed• Mounting accessories included• 5 year warranty Cons • Should include a variable speed controller• Inlet (air intake) side is not flanged so attaching a duct to this side will require at least duct tape and possibly screws.I still give this 5 stars as of right now because I knew about the cons before buying it.CFM/AMP Information with calculated watts:>/b>Inline Fan 4″ – 171 CFM / 1 AMP x 120v = 120 wattsInline Fan 6″ – 435 CFM / 1 AMP x 120v = 120 wattsInline Fan 8″ – 745 CFM / 1.7 AMPS x 120v = 204 wattsInline Fan 10″ – 780 CFM / 2.1 AMPS x 120v = 252 wattsInline Fan 12″ – 1060 CFM / 2.5 AMPS x 120v = 300 watts(Credit to Amazon user M. Weaver for the stats above)Note: The box itself states that it’s 1.7 amps and uses 198 watts. I wonder if they are rounding up the 1.7 amps up from maybe 1.65amps which would equal 198 watts.

    overpriced, underpowered
this is a skimpy fan. about 117 watts compared to a tjurnland at about 150 watts at same price. just a real cheapo fan with a brand name on it.

    Affordable Fan
I purchased this fan knowing it wasnt going to be the quietest fan, but it moves a good amount of air for a 4″ fan and works for my application. I ended up building a MDF enclosure with sound foam to house the fan and you cant hear it when its on. If you need something stealth, this is not your fan.. you will hear it moving air through walls.

    Great product
My range hood was always bothering me with low performance and unbearable noise level. So I finally threw the motor away and moved the fan to the attic. That’s what I use this fan for. Placed it in the attic, properly suspended, it sucks air like crazy, and the noise is completely gone. You can whisper near hood now and hear every word. it’s just low hum on max setting.Build quality is very solid.Note: the actual opening on the intake side is 6″. 8″ is just the diameter of the collar. So I would not recommend any smaller size for 6″ tube.I used Active Air ACSC Duct Fan Speed Adjuster with it and it works perfect. I dissembled the unit and attached it to the range hood, so the adjustment knob is where the old controls were. Looks totally stock!

Air leaks around the fan and means it has to spin louder and faster to move the air. Taping around it seals it but also blocks the screws needed to mount it. For the cost, I wouldn’t buy it until a rubber seal has been applied around it. It is a powerful fan if you need to move lots of air in 4″.
