I used to use a suction mounted mount, but it was always falling off when the weather changed, and I had to take it off whenever I visited California. When it finally broke, I replaced it with one of those vent mounts. That didn’t last long, and it blocked my vent which was really annoying, especially on hot days when it blocked the AC.I decided that I wanted to try a magnetic mount since it’s annoying to mess with clips and clamps, so I got one that sticks to the dash with adhesive. After deciding that there wasn’t really an ideal place to mount it, I compromised and sound what appeared to be a secure spot and mounted it. Within 2 days, the weight of the phone had pulled the adhesive off of the mount (still stuck to the dash, so I was convinced I needed a different type of mount.Finally, I decided on a CD slot holder since it had the benefit of being centrally located, but would be more secure and not block the vents.I chose this model since it appeared to be solidly built (one reviewer said it was metal, but it’s just heavy duty plastic with a nice flat finish) and had a broad magnetic surface (and a great price).It came with several different colored steel plates (for the magnet to stick to) so you can match your phone, but I just slipped one in the Speck Products CandyShell Case for iPhone SE/5/5S -Retail Packaging- Black/Slate Grey and it works great.The phone has never fallen off the mount even on rough roads and some gnarly potholes.Pros:-Well built-Secure-Uses 6 magnets rather than 4 as some models do for a secure hold-Great priceCons:-Tightening screw seems longer than it needs to be (partially obscures radio display/clock)-Used with:iPhone SE in Speck Candyshell caseSpeck Products CandyShell Case for iPhone SE/5/5S -Retail Packaging- Black/Slate Grey

SMALL, SLICK, AND EFFECTIVE!
I’d already gotten tired of opening spring-loaded wings and lowering little shelves to mount my phone on a holder in my car. Then I saw these magnetic mounts and thought I’d give them a try. I’m glad I did. They are so much easier to use. It has a very small profile, and fits directly into my CD slot (which I don’t use otherwise). A thumbscrew tightens it snugly into the slot and once you adjust the angle you want your phone to be held, you’re ready to go.My phones, both a Galaxy A5 and a Pixel 8, are bigger than typical phones and are not strongly attracted to a magnet. However, the mount comes with a self-adhesive metal plate that can be stuck on the back of the phone to enhance the attraction. I typically put silicone cases on my phones (I drop them a lot), so I stuck the plate inside the case instead of on the phone itself (see pic). This works very well and I have never had a phone slip from the holder even with a charging cord attached.Highly recommend!

Edit**Broke pretty quickly sadly even tho it was pretty amazing for the short lived time I used it. Maybe I just got lucky, but plastic part broke. Metal should be used for the entire thing. It’d last forever.First off I want to say that I was a bit skeptical of this product being able to do what I needed it to do. But I gave it a shotI’M GLAD I DID! It fit into the CD player like a glove on tiger woods hand, and locked into place with the minimal amount of effort.1. The quality – absolutely incredible. Very hard plastic and metal. Very very sturdy material. The product felt top notch. Best phone holder I ever felt or used.2. The use – I got this for my 10.5 inch tablet and it held without a single problem. My tablet does not bounce or move in the slightest and I can move my tablets angle around perfectly to how I want it. My biggest issue before was my previous mount was blocking my window view. This one sits where my radio is and now has become my new gps/radio. And since it’s magnetic, I just remove it quick and painless to use my back up camera or take it inside.3. The magnets – although I did not use the magnets. I currently have 2 large magnets on the back of my tablet case already however I have received these exact same magnets from a previous purchase and they hold very well. The only thing I would suggest is some glue instead of the adhesive on the back because the magnets are stronger than the adhesive and in time they will pull off of the phone/tablet.I have no doubts this mount could have a 12 or even 14in tablet if I wanted. So for anyone with just a phone this is by far the best mount I have had if you have a CD player. Every other mount I have used has had to be super glued down and with summer heat, even that doesn’t always hold. You’d regret buying anything else. It can block 2 vents if ur using a larger tablet and depending on how your vents are setup in ur vehicle. But you can close those vents in winter to prevent overheating and keep them open in summer to cool it down.

Great mount, purchased for ipad mini 2, holds well & magnets are nice & strong. Wish there was a little adjustability on the hight, but this fixed state makes it more stable so can’t complain (still has adjustability with the ball for angle)
