ALL THAT I NEED AND MORE!
Okay. My school provided document cameras for the teachers a few years ago. Sadly, the devices purchased are cheap and difficult/cumbersome to use and prone to breaking. So, I gave mine away to another teacher. Finally, last spring, I spent my own money and purchased this Ladybug upon the recommendation of another teacher who had been using one for about a year. Wow!I opened the delivery box to a very well packaged, BEAUTIFUL, sturdy product. It was perfect in every way. When I got to school the next day, I followed the simple directions and connected it successfully to my laptop computer, which is, in turn, connected to my Smart Board projector. There are two connectors: a power cord and a USB cable. No problems at all!Installing and using the Ladybug is very intuitive. It comes with simple, printed directions for easy set-up, and once installed, a shortcut will be placed on your desktop. It is through this shortcut that you will activate your Ladybug whenever you want to use it. As you are using your Ladybug, a small menu “grid” will be readily available on the screen. This is a set of “buttons” that enable you to access the many features of the device. You can move and minimize this grid, as needed. There are numerous features included, such as, focus, exposure, contrast, photo, zoom, and more. I am still learning what all the buttons do and how to use them! My fourth graders helped me figure out how to work some of the basic functions of the Ladybug–that’s how intuitive and smart nine-year-olds are!The Ladybug’s flexible goose neck is wonderful! It enables the head to be aimed absolutely ANY direction, allowing for the best view possible. The base is well-weighted and heavy enough to keep the device stable in any position. There are two focus buttons on the head, one on either side, and another one on the base. There are three other buttons on the base, but as I said, I am still learning how to use all the features of my Ladybug. And, the COLOR! The red color is perfect, especially because my school colors are…RED and white! 🙂 Also, red just looks good.I have enjoyed using my Ladybug in the classroom so much. Not only am I able to project worksheets, photographs, illustrations, text passages, student samples, and objects on the Smart Board for the entire class to see, I can very clearly demonstrate to my students how to write on lined paper, how to fill out forms, how to properly form manuscript and cursive letters, how to indent and write in paragraph form, and how to properly space mathematics work. Now when I read a picture book to my class, EVERYONE can see the pictures, not just those sitting nearest me. My students can also enjoy sharing their artwork and “treasures” with the class, using the Ladybug. We ALL love it!The document camera has virtually taken the place of the overhead projector, and it does so much more. The Ladybug is one of the best, if not THE best on the market at this time. I know there are other Ladybug models available, but this one has proven to be all that I need and more. I HIGHLY recommend it!

Great document camera!
I am a teacher and purchased this document camera at the beginning of the pandemic. It definitely served its purpose in my daily plans…I used it for directed drawings, introducing new material, and reading picture books to my class. It is very easy to use. The camera was very true to the description and past reviews. If you are looking for a simple camera to operate than this is a perfect option for you.

Works Perfectly
This is a nice product that is used in my classroom almost every day. Although this model does not have an automatic zoom feature, I’ve used a different software program that will zoom without having to move the camera.

Works for our needs
Purchased this camera for my 7-year old to do online work with his reading and writing tutor over Zoom. It works great with my Toshiba laptop running Windows 10 and with Zoom. I could not get it to work with our MAC desktop but it is too old to update to the most recent versions of iOS so I suspect that is the issue. Based on other reviewers comments I downloaded the IPEVO software rather than the Lumens software. The IPEVO software recognizes the camera and seems to work fine.

Software needed unless your computer has Windows 10
I purchased this to use in my Kindergarten classroom. It’s so much easier to project a book so they can actually see me point to each word. 🙂 There is software required in order for it to work. THIS IS NOT PLUG AND PLAY. IT’S PLUG DOWNLOAD AND PLAY. I was able to download the software onto my laptop but the school desktop either would not install the software or gave a message about not enough power to download the driver via USB. (I tried 2 different desktops.) Also, I am using an HDMI cord for connection. This doc camera is worth the price.Pros:Clear pictureUSB plug connection onlyFlexible gooseneckLightFreeze and other featuresMostly plug and playCons:No rotation featureSoftware download needed (from the website)Edit: So it turns out it really is plug and play. 🙂 The computers at school have Windows 10. Plug in the USB. Bring up the camera. That’s it.

Outdated device
I desperately needed a document camera to move my classes to an online format. All I can say about this Ladibug DC125 is that it works. But just barely. After a week, I was setting up for a class, and the camera wouldn’t work – I had to reinstall the Ladibug software to get it working again. The software was written for Windows XP and Windows Vista. The video files it creates are .avi files which my Windows 10 machine can’t even play with Windows Media Player. And all the sites with conversion software to convert an .avi video to .mp4 look like very shady characters that I don’t trust enough to use. I finally booted up an old Windows 7 machine, and its version of Windows Media Player could play the video. The Ladibug “support” of the manufacturer Lumens only does 3 things – lets you register your purchase, download software and manual, and fill out a form for warranty service. There is no phone number, no support chat, no email support, no user community, no FAQ.The Ladibug is the only doc cam I have used, but if I had to buy another one, I would buy anything but a Ladibug, sight unseen.

nice clarity but zoom function not proper
nice clarity but zoom function not proper. Doesn’t zoom distorts the picture while zoom in and out and no zoom control on document camera, need to zoom in and out via software from computer

This Document Camera is Great!!
This wonderful document camera works perfectly. It is easy to use and the picture projected on the screen is clear and easy to follow. I ordered this for our calligraphy guild to project the teacher’s demonstration so everyone could see just what he/she is doing to achieve the letter forms. Many of our guild members said how great it was to be able to see the demonstration on the screen.
