Great Scanner
I like this a lot more than I thought I would. The features I really like:- Goes directly to the cloud – I don’t need to involve a computer to scan. When I get something I drop it in, it goes directly to google drive and I categorize it later. Very easy to use!- OCR’s documents, making them searchable .- Orients pages the right way – landscape pages get rotated, etc. Of the hundreds of documents I scanned I did have a problem with one 50-page document printed in a cursive font where about 10% of pages were upside down and I had to re-orient them at the touchscreen, but this was very much the exception, and I was able to fix it at the scanner.- Wireless- Allows me to delete pages or re-orient them on the touchscreen- Fast, scans double sided pages no problem, removes blank pages.- I can easily scan a multi-page document with different size page sizes. Some things I don’t like:- It listens on port-80; there is an unauthenticated web server that allows you to upgrade firmware and download logs. The logs contain the cleartext wifi password. Rookie security issues that should not exist.- For documents that are OCR’ed and documents that go to the cloud it includes /author and /creator tags using the email address you used for the raven account. I was able to sanitize on linux using qpdf, but this is an extra step I don’t like. For documents that go, e.g. to a local NAS and are not OCR’ed the tags are not present.- The touchscreen is not as responsive as it could be- It appears to SLAAC an EUI64 IPv6 address, but it is not usable – IPv6 appears to have been disabled.Other:I happened to have a very small USB keyboard which I attached – this makes it easier to name documents at the scanner. The device is Android so you can use the touchscreen to name documents, but the keyboard is easier. It is a document scanner – probably not the best choice to scan photos, etc.

Works Great, Fast, and you can bypass the Raven Cloud if you Want
I was a little confused at first, because I thought you had to use the Raven Cloud for all your scanning, but you DON’T. It’s not a big deal if you don’t mind having your stuff online. Raven Cloud access is unlimited and FREE. I’m just kind of paranoid. To do everything local, you download Raven Desktop (from the raven website), then use the “printer cable” looking cord that has kind of a square-ish end that goes into your scanner, and a USB-A connection on the other end that you plug into your computer. (NOTE: on my Raven scanner, the square-ish port you want to plug this cord into on the back of the scanner had a sticker over it that said, “Not Required”…which is a little misleading, because you CAN still use that port, you just don’t have to if you don’t mind scanning into the Raven Cloud) Once you attach the scanner to your computer via USB, Raven Desktop will automagically load up the correct drivers for you, then you can get started! If you want to keep things local, you’ll just want to designate a folder on your computer where you would like your scans stored, and then be sure to pick that folder as the ONLY destination when you scan. It’s really cool, too, that you can actually choose multiple destinations for your scans in Raven Desktop! So, if you had a backup drive where you wanted to maintain additional copies, you can do that all in one go. But at the same time, if you want to make sure all your stuff stays local, you can turn off the internet connection in the Settings.I love how fast it scans BOTH sides of documents, as well as the convenient settings like auto-straighten, and remove blank pages, and that it can auto-detect the length if it’s something like a long receipt. One thing I’m not sure about just yet is the OCR function. I believe I read that the AI for that is in the Raven Cloud, so I don’t think you can use that function if you scan directly to your computer through USB. However, you can use the open source program NAPS2 (Not Another PDF Scanner 2) to scan with this scanner instead of the Raven Desktop program, and NAPS2 has a computer based OCR function. It would be really nice if they could add a choice in the Workflow settings of Raven Desktop, to use NAPS2 OCR so you could use that while keeping everything local. But that’s my only complaint.

Super easy-to-use and understand!
Raven Original Scanner takes everything I hated about scanners and fixed it. The large touchscreen makes it a breeze to scan, upload, and organize documents. It’s now a part of the daily routine to scan everything that comes in and then shred it.I highly recommend the Raven Original Scanner for anyone in need of a high-speed, quality scanner. This scanner is able to handle large volumes of documents (of all sizes up to letter) quickly and efficiently, while also producing clear and accurate scans. The Raven Original Scanner is also very easy to use, with intuitive controls and a user-friendly interface. Additionally, the scanner is built with durable materials and is designed to withstand heavy use.If you modify the settings (just a couple of taps), you can easily scan thicker ID cards, credit cards, or odd-shaped documents. I have done this on several occasions and very rarely do I have to do it more than once to get it right. I have also had very, very few jams or misfeeds that weren’t my fault.Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase of the Raven Original Scanner and I believe it is an excellent option for anyone in need of a high-speed scanner.

Totalmente recomendable

I was looking for a Mac compatible scanner with standalone capabilities, with direct upload to cloud destinations. Read a view reviews and took the gamble, had to order it through Amazon Uk because it was not available yet in Europe. It turned out very good, fast and reliable. After a few weeks Raven contacted me by phone (!) to ask me if i was satisfied. And I am! She explained (in an e-mail) how to make groups to directly scan to different folders within a cloud-destination.

Unable to contact Raven support as the company has shut down but is still selling products through amazon. My scanner screen went black after using it for just over 4 weeks, since then I have tried contacting Amazon and Raven but had no response.
